Over the course of this championship you will be privileged to witness the best of intercollegiate athletics as our fine OVC student-athletes demonstrate their keen intellectual understanding of the sport, their exemplary athletics skills and their commitment to sportsmanship. Please join me in commending our participants, whose hard work in the class room and on the playing fields has resulted in their participation in this event. With the win, the Eagles' second straight, MSU moved to 4-9 overall and 3-2 in the Ohio Valley Conference, while TSU fell to 3-8 and 1-2 in the conference. Green and Combs both equaled their season highs with the 14 points. Combs dropped in a trio of three-pointers in 22 minutes on the floor, while Green scored in double figures for the third consecutive game. The Eagles also got a third straight double-double from senior LaKrisha Brown with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman Brandi came off the bench in the second half and scored nine points and added a career high 11 rebounds, including eight on the offensive glass. Junior guard Stacey Strayer dished out a career high eight assists. Tennessee State got a game high 18 points from Meesha Jackson, while Nikki Rumph had 13 and Oby Okafor added 12. LaDona Pierce paced TSU with five assists. USA Eagle Olympian Former Football Eagle Brian Shimer has developed into one of the premier bobsledders in the world.
