2L DIVERSITY FELLOWSHIP INVESTING IN LEADERS OF TOMORROW. It’s not enough to say we want a diverse legal community. As a leading global 50 law firm, we have to invest meaningfully in diversity, equity and inclusion in order to create an environment where all lawyers can excel and thrive. Years of practice have taught us that our investment is best placed in high-achieving law students from underrepresented backgrounds. With diversity, equity and inclusion being integral to our business and core values, we know that recruiting, developing and retaining outstanding law students and lawyers from underrepresented backgrounds allows us to break the boundaries of diversity within the legal profession and, in turn, achieve unparalleled results. 2L DIVERSITY FELLOWSHIPS Goodwin’s 2L Diversity Fellowship program provides second-year law students from underrepresented backgrounds with awards of $15,000 each to help cover expenses for their third year of law school (2021-2022). The $15,000 award is contingent on the student accepting an offer to join Goodwin’s 2021 summer associate program and on accepting an offer, if extended, to join the firm as a full-time associate. The award will be paid out upon completion of the summer program. These fellowships are named in honor of Richard A. Soden and Paul W. Lee for their exceptional commitment to diversity.
