D UConn has not lost to a non-conference opponent in Gampel Pavilion since March of 2001 and the Huskies are 51-4 vs. non-league opponents in the building. University of D UConn has played host at Gampel to preliminary round play of a tournament on two Connecticut previous occasions, winning a pair of games in the ‘03 and ‘97 Preseason NIT. THE GAME: Tonight's game features the Huskies of the University of vs. Connecticut against the Bears of Morgan State University in the first round of the 2K Sports College Hoops Classic benefitting Coaches vs. Cancer. The Morgan State Huskies won a pair of exhibition games, beating Assumption and Bryant and University come off a 17-14 campaign in 2006-07. Failure in creating and establishing such a model led to the situation that some traditional teams with a very successful history (such as Limoges, Benetton Basket, Kinder Bologna and more recently Montepaschi Siena and so on) have disappeared from the top-level European competition. Without any doubt, since its inception, Euroleauge Basketball has achieved quite a remarkable progress in enhancing the commercial value of the top-level European basketball league and significantly increasing the competition’s revenues. However, it still cannot be argued that the operating model of European basketball is now based on economically sound and rational principles & practices. In an effort to strengthen the financial stability of its clubs and to improve its financial governance model, Euroleague Basketball enacted its Financial Stability and Fair Play Regulations (FSFP). In this study, we perform a critical review of the financial criteria as set out in the FSFP rules (as stated in 2016-2017 Bylaws), both from an economic and legal perspective, also considering the “current reality” in European Basketball.

    Dynamic Player Significance (DPS): A new comprehensive basketball statistic David Hill Media Lab, Massachusetts Institute of Technology Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA [email protected] 15.071 (The Analytics Edge) Final Project May 13, 2013 Abstract Dynamic player significance is a new basketball metric designed to measure each NBA player's importance, or significance, to his franchise. This metric attempts to clearly define each player's role on the team and how it fits with the team's identity. Its key aspect is that it is influenced by the on-court identity of each franchise, which is defined as the collection of factors that contribute most to a win by a given team. These factors differ for every NBA team. Therefore, two players with completely identical stats/skillsets, but different teams, will most likely have different significance values. Alternatively, if a player is traded from one team to another, his significance will differ on the new team even if his production remains constant. Hence, dynamic player significance. Here, I have broken down the components of the model and explored three case studies that clearly show how teams’ identities deviate. Additionally, player evaluations have been explored to show tendencies in the model across multiple conditions. The proposed statistic could help inform team personnel decisions and coaching strategies, in addition to gauging player effectiveness. Motivation In the NBA, one of the most important things for any team to establish is an identity. These are the traits that define a team. Often, identity is the major factor that governs all transactions, whether the team is looking for players, hiring a coach, or filling front office positions.
