Podobne som d ohliadal na obsadenie Bedárov v Londýne, New Yorku, Sydney i v Tokiu. U muzikálov Miss Saigon, alebo Martina Guerra to bo lo rovnaké. Takže ani v Ostrave, zvlášť keď ide o úplne novú ve rziu, som neurobil výnimku. Považujem to za jednu zo zásadnýc h súčastí prípravu“. 1 1 http://www.novinky.cz/kultura/218479-libretista-boublil-o-muzikalu-marguerite-broadway-ci-ostrava-na-tom- nezalezi.html Príloha č. 2 Zoznam hudobných čísel v Ostrave 1 D e j s t v o Paříž – Armand Jazz time – Annette, Marguerite, Pierrot, Lucien, c o m p a n y Panenka z porcelánu (China Doll) – Armand, Margueri t e Jak dál (Waiting) – Armand Paříž, naše Paříž – Choreograf, tanečnice Ta tvář, co znám (The Face I See) – Marguerite Paříž naše Paříž – Marguerite, tanečnice V rauši omámení (Intoxication) – Armand, Marguerite Zde mně máš (I Am Here) – Marguerite Zde mně máš (I Am Here) – Marguerite, Armand, Annet te, L u c i e n 2 D e j s t v o Jazz time – Marguerite, company Nová píseň – Marguerite Psaní (The Letter) – Marguerite, Otto Proklínam (How Did I Get to Where I Am?) – Margueri te, A r m a n d Proč srdce má svůj řád (Take Good Care of Yourself) – Annette, A r m a n d Toužím snít/Jak dál (Dreams Shining Dreams) – Margu erite, A r m a n d Toužím snít (Dreams Shining Dreams) – Marguerite Panenka z porcelánu (Chins Doll) – Annette Tam pod blůzičkou hedvábnou - Marguerite Paříž, naše Paříž – company Finále/Ta tvář co znám (Finale/ The Face I See) – M arguerite, A r m a n d Panenka z porcelánu (China Doll) - piano Príloha č. 3 Obsadenie a inscenačný tým v Ostrave Hudba: Michel Legrand Libreto a pôvodné francúzske texty piesní: Alain Bo u b l i l Anglické texty: Herbert Kretzmer České prebásnenie: Michael Prostějovský Nová orchestrálna úprava: William David Brohn Scénická réžie: Gabriela Haukvicová-Petráková Umelecká réžie: Marie Zamora Hudebné nastudovanie: Karol Kevický Dirigenti: Karol Kevický a Jakub Žídek Choreografia: Kristýna Černá Scéna a kostýmy: Aleš Valášek Dramaturgia: Patrick Fridrichovský Marguerite: Hana Fialová, Eva Zbrožková Armand: Tomáš Novotný, Lukáš Vlček Annette: Veronika Gidová, Zuzana Kopřivová Otto: Marcel Školout Lucien: Roman Harok Pierrot: Juraj Čiernik, Jaroslav Rusnák Saurel: Igor Orozovič Hermann: Tomáš Vzorek Prílohy č. 4 Pieseň Jazz time v podaní Annette (Veronika Gidová) Pieseň „V rauši omámeni“ Armand (Tomáš Novotny) Herman chce zatknúť Annette a Armanda Záverečná scéna umierajúcej Marguerite (Hana Filalo vá) a jej lásky Armanda (Lukáša Vlčku) Príloha č. 5 Zoznam hudobných čísel v Anglicku A c t I Come One Come All – company Let the World Turn – Marguerite, Georges, company Jazz Time - Annette, Armand, Lucien, Pierrot, compa n y China Doll – Marguerite China Doll (Reprise) – Armand, Marguerite The Face I See – Marguerite Time Was When – Lucien, Annette, Pierrot, Armand The World Begins Today – company Waiting – Armand, Marguerite Intoxication – Armand, Marguerite, Otto Day by Day (Part One) – company I Am Here – Marguerite, Armand Take Good Care of Yourself – Annette, Lucien A c t I I Day by Day (Part Two) – Marguerite, Armand, Otto, c o m p a n y Dreams Shining Dreams – Marguerite, Armand Take Good Care of Yourself (Reprise) – Annette I Hate the Very Thought of Women – Otto The Letter – Marguerite, Otto What’s Left of Love – Armand Paris - Chanteuse, Marguerite, Otto, Armand, Pierro t , L u c i e n Day by Day (Part Three) – company How Did I Get to Where I Am? – Marguerite Day by Day (Part Four) – company Come One Come All (Reprise) – company Finale – Marguerite, Armand Príloha č. 6 Obsadenie a inscenačný tým hudba: Michel Legrand text: Alain Boublil a Herbert Kretzmer libreto: Alain Boublil, Claude-Michel Schönberg a J onathan K e n t Réžia: Jonathan Kent Hudebné nastudovanie: John Rigby Dirigenti: John Rigby, Dan Jackson Choreografia: Arthur Pita Scéna a kostýmy: Marguerite: Ruthie Henshall Armand: Julian Ovenden Otto: Alexander Hanson Lucien: Simon Thoma Annette: Annalene Beechey Pierrot: Matt Cross Georges: Andrew C Wadsworth Chanteuse: Gay Soper Hermann: Keiron Crook Príloha č. 7 Predstavenie v Londýne Scéna na narodeninovej oslave Jazz time Scény z narodeninovej oslavy Program z londýnskej Marguerite (Ruthie Henshal) Skúška pôvodnej Marguerite vpodaní Ruthie Henshall a Armanda - Julien Ovenden Príloha č. 8 Skúšanie ostravskej Marguerite Alain Boublil, Gabriela Haukvicová William David Brohn, Alain Boublil (z ľava) Tomáš Novotný, Marie Zamora, Alain Boublil, Michal Prostějovský, Patrick Frindrichovský, Veronika Gidová .

THE REMEDIATION OF DUMAS FILS' LA DAME AUX CAMÉLIAS by BRANDI L. GUINED Under the Direction of Emily Bloom ABSTRACT Alexandre Dumas fils’ La Dame aux Camélias has existed in various media for more than 150 years, originating from life events that were mediated through the novel and remediated via theater, opera, and film. I examine in my thesis how this particular narrative has survived the centuries and how each depiction relates the social expectations, desires, and fears of the time period in which the revised story is generated. The relationship between Dumas and the famous courtesan Marie Duplessis and its fictional recreations in Dumas’ novel La Dame aux Camélias, his play Camille, Giuseppe Verdi’s opera La Traviata, and Baz Luhrmann’s film Moulin Rouge! reflects a human compulsion to create narratives in order to grasp daily events and to potentially escape those events or comment upon those which do not fit concisely into their socially expected codes of understanding.

A PSYCHOSEXUAL BLACK COMEDY Press Contacts: Kevin McLean | [email protected] Kara MacLean | [email protected] USA/FRANCE / 2017 / 83 minutes / English with French Subtitles / Color / DCP + Blu-ray Alone and depressed after the suicide of her lover, American flight attendant Gina (Lindsay Burdge, A TEACHER) travels to Paris and hooks up with nightclub bartender Jerome (Damien Bonnard, STAYING VERTICAL) on her layover. But as Gina falls deeper into lust and opts to stay in France, this harmless rendezvous quickly turns into unrequited amour fou. When Jerome’s ex Clémence (Esther Garrel) reenters the picture, Gina is sent on a downward spiral of miscommunication, masochism, and madness. Inspire by European erotic dramas from the 70’s, THIRST STREET burrows deep into the delirious extremes we go to for love. DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT THIRST STREET brings together two of my longest-standing, most nagging obsessions: France and Don Quixote. I spent my junior year of high school as an exchange student in France, in a foolish attempt to live out my dream of being a French poet. I realized within days that I wasn’t French (and never would be) and that poetry wasn’t for me, but nearly two decades later, I still find myself just as obsessed with the place. Our protagonist Gina is my Quixote, unflinching in her quest to find that most important (and ridiculous) thing: love. The emotions of THIRST STREET are just as hysterical as those in my last few movies, but the style here is much more fluid and deliberate, with surreal lighting increasingly threatening to devour the picture.

STAGES OF SUFFERING: PERFORMING ILLNESS IN THE LATE-NINETEENTH-CENTURY THEATRE by Meredith Ann Conti Bachelor of Fine Arts, Denison University, 2001 Master of Arts, University of Pittsburgh, 2007 Submitted to the Graduate Faculty of The School of Arts and Sciences in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy University of Pittsburgh 2011 UNIVERSITY OF PITTSBURGH SCHOOL OF ARTS AND SCIENCES This dissertation was presented by Meredith Ann Conti It was defended on April 11, 2011 and approved by Attilio Favorini, PhD, Professor, Theatre Arts Kathleen George, PhD, Professor, Theatre Arts Michael Chemers, PhD, Associate Professor, Carnegie Mellon University, Drama Dissertation Advisor: Bruce McConachie, PhD, Professor, Theatre Arts ii Copyright © by Meredith Ann Conti 2011 iii STAGES OF SUFFERING: PERFORMING ILLNESS IN THE LATE-NINETEENTH-CENTURY THEATRE Meredith Ann Conti, PhD University of Pittsburgh, 2011 Few life occurrences shaped individual and collective identities within Victorian society as critically as suffering (or witnessing a loved one suffering) from illness. Boasting both a material reality of pathologies, morbidities, and symptoms and a metaphorical life of stigmas, icons, and sentiments, the cultural construct of illness was an indisputable staple on the late-nineteenth- century stage. This dissertation analyzes popular performances of illness (both somatic and psychological) to determine how such embodiments confirmed or counteracted salient medical, cultural, and individualized expressions of illness. I also locate within general nineteenth-century acting practices an embodied lexicon of performed illness (comprised of readily identifiable physical and vocal signs) that traversed generic divides and aesthetic movements. Performances of contagious disease are evaluated using over sixty years of consumptive Camilles; William Gillette’s embodiment of the cocaine-injecting Sherlock Holmes and Richard Mansfield’s fiendishly grotesque transformations in the double role of Dr.
