MEDIA RELEASE TransLink launches historic new bus service RapidBus brings faster, more frequent service to eight Metro Vancouver communities January 6, 2020 COQUITLAM, B.C. – TransLink launches RapidBus on four routes – bringing customers up to 20 per cent faster bus service with higher frequencies, fewer stops, dedicated bus lanes, bus priority changes to intersections, and all-door boarding. RapidBus provides a more reliable bus service that can move more than 10,000 people per hour at peak times. The new service is made possible through investments from Phase One of the Mayors’ Vision, the Government of Canada, and the Province of BC. “We’re stepping up our bus game,” says TransLink CEO Kevin Desmond. “RapidBus is a crucial part of improving the region’s bus service through the Mayors’ Vision. These RapidBus routes will benefit eight communities and bring our customers a more reliable bus service that they deserve.” Coming every 10 minutes or better during peak hours and every 15 minutes or better in non-peak hours, customers can now catch a RapidBus on these four routes: • R1 King George Blvd – (Guildford Exchange/Newton Exchange) o Every eight minutes during peak hours • R3 Lougheed Hwy (Coquitlam Central Station/Haney Place) o Every ten minutes during peak hours • R4 41st Ave (UBC/Joyce-Collingwood Station) o Every three to six minutes during peak hours • R5 Hastings St (SFU/Burrard Station) o Every four to five minutes during peak hours RapidBus customers will enjoy new customer amenities such as softer seats, more space on 60-foot articulated buses, real-time digital signage, and audio next-bus information at RapidBus stops. -

Walk, Roll Or Ride to Work and School This Fall
WALK, ROLL OR RIDE TO WORK AND SCHOOL THIS FALL CITY OF NORTH VANCOUVER, BC – Sept. 01, 2021… The City of North Vancouver is encouraging residents to rethink their commute this fall and try greener and healthier ways to get to school, work and other activities. A new City campaign, Walk Roll Ride, is highlighting the benefits and opportunities for walking, cycling, car sharing and using transit and other sustainable modes of travel around the City as residents return to fall activities. During the month of September, residents who share a positive Walk Roll Ride experience on social media with the hashtag #WalkRollRideCNV will be entered in a draw for one of five one-month Compass Card passes. Details can be found at cnv.org/travel. “Safe and efficient mobility across the community is important for all people,” said Mayor Linda Buchanan. “For too long cars have been the default mode of transportation, but this isn’t working anymore. That’s why the City is delivering infrastructure and services to make it easier for us to move in new ways. Walk Roll Ride will support people of all ages and abilities as we embrace healthier and more sustainable modes of transportation.” Choosing a greener way to go – such as walking children to school, taking transit to work or cycling to the gym – can reduce stress, improve health and help you get to know your community better. It also reduces pollution and traffic congestion, and typically costs less than driving a vehicle. During rush hour, it can even be faster. A number of initiatives and upgrades in the last 18 months have made it easier than ever to walk, roll or ride around City as residents rediscover alternative ways of getting around. -

Attachment A Page 1 of 3 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY This 2012 Transportation and Financial Supplemental Plan and Outlook (2012 Supplemental Plan), entitled "Moving Forward: Improving Metro Vancouver1s Transportation Network/I builds upon previous investment in transportation, including expansion in transitl that occurred in iVletro Vancouver between 2005 and 2009. The transportation investments and funding provided under this 2012 Supplemental Plan will support strong growth in transit ridershipI will continue to support livable communities and will move the region towards conditions required this decade to fulfill Transport 2040 aspirations for a sustainable region. Annual regional greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from roadway and passenger transportation in the region are forecast to decline by 2 per cent between 2011 and 2014 and remain approximately 4 per cent below 2011 levels through 2021. With the opening of the Evergreen Line, annual transit boardings are forecast to increase by 10 per cent (over 40 million boardings) over the 2012 Base Plan forecast by 2021. Under this plan, the region fulfills the long-standing commitment to provide funding for the Evergreen Line Rapid Transit project, connecting Coquitlam and Port Moody to the region/s rail rapid transit network. Significant upgrades to the existing transit system will also occur under this plan: • By 2014, annual bus and Sea Bus service will increase by 415/000 hours, or 7 per centl providing more service around the region to improve reliability, reduce crowding and serve new demand from population growth and the expanded U-Pass BC program. • A fast, frequent and reliable B-Line service will be introduced in Surrey on 104th Avenue and King George Boulevard to connect Guildford, Surrey Central and White Rock. -

Throughout the pandemic, TransLink provided a critical service to hundreds of thousands of customers across Metro Vancouver who continued to rely on us. Public transportation helped ensure that people had access to medical services, food, supplies, and other essential needs. In addition, many frontline workers relied on TransLink to get to and from their jobs, including grocery store clerks, construction workers, childcare providers, and healthcare workers. Transit service levels were maintained during the pandemic as a result of funding relief from the Federal and Provincial Governments. Emergency relief funding from senior levels of government enabled us to continue providing safe and reliable transit services for the people of Metro Vancouver. This funding, which extends until the end of 2021, helped avoid any major service reductions due to the financial pressures of the COVID-19 pandemic. Keeping service fast and frequent provided reliable service for essential workers and customers engaging in essential travel. In 2020, transit played a critical role in supporting Metro Vancouver’s economy amidst unprecedented challenges and uncertainty. Moving forward, TransLink will continue to deliver for our region, rebuild our ridership, and help drive our recovery from COVID-19.
