    Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren, der Schutz von Kindern ist unsere gemeinsame Aufgabe und hat für mich oberste Priorität. Dabei ist mir bewusst, dass sich Jugendhilfe in dem Spannungsfeld bewegt, einerseits hilfsbedürftige Familien zu unterstützen und andererseits konsequent eingreifen zu müssen, wenn das Kindeswohl gefährdet ist. In beiden Fällen muss der Kinderschutz das Maß aller Dinge sein. Das ist die schwierige Aufgabe, über die Sozialarbeiterinnen und Sozialarbeiter täglich zu entscheiden haben. Das Kinderschutz-Zentrum Berlin e.V. leistet dazu mit seiner Arbeit einen unver- zichtbaren Beitrag. Seit über drei Jahrzehnten wird Familien und Kindern, die von Misshandlung, Missbrauch und Vernachlässigung betroffen sind, sofortige, kostenlose und unbürokratische Hilfe angeboten. In der Vergangenheit hat sich das Kinderschutz-Zentrum auch dann bewährt, wenn es um die Bewältigung akuter Krisen ging. So bietet die Einrichtung misshandelten oder vernachlässigten Kindern nicht nur räumlichen Schutz, sondern stellt ihnen auch erfahrene Psychologen und Therapeuten zur Seite, damit es ihnen gelingt, die teils traumatischen Erlebnisse besser und schneller zu verarbeiten. Kinderschutz ist ein permanenter Prozess, in dem wir versuchen, das Optimum zum Schutz der Kinder zu erreichen. Berlin hat hier bereits viel getan und ist bundesweit Spitze. Mit Investitionen in die Frühe Hilfe, mit zusätzlichen Familienhebammen und dem Ausbau der Hotline-Kinderschutz wollen wir zukünftig unsere Kinder noch besser vor Gewalt schützen können. Hinzu kommt der Ausbau von Kitaplätzen: Unser Ziel ist, bis 2015 19.000 neue Kitaplätze zu schaffen. Zusätzlich wollen wir 26 Familienzentren finanziell unterstützen.
