A M A R D ART DANCE FILM MEDY MUSIC CO season brochure January-March 2018 2 New Season New Strategy HOME THEATRE (IRELAND) 2018 sees the first year of Draíocht’s new Five year Strategy (2018 to Draíocht is delighted to annouce our major theatrical event for 2018. HOME 2022), developed in 2017 through consultation with internal and external THEATRE (IRELAND) is an ambitious, large scale and innovative way of making theatre. It will pair 40 leading playwrights/theatre-makers with 30 stakeholders, using workshops, interviews and importantly for us, a public community hosts. We will ask them to spend time together in the host’s home online survey. We wanted to hear from you and take into consideration what to chat and talk, after which the artists will write an original play inspired by you were saying about Draíocht. We reviewed what we have achieved and the the host and performed in the host’s own home to an invited audience. All experiences from which we learned since our Opening in 2001. season brochure April-August 2020 1 What’s Coming This Season DRAÍOCHT – VISUAL ARTS & ARTIST RESIDENCIES Opened in March and exhibiting until 30 May is ‘MAKing Art: PRINTing’, which explores and celebrates printmaking (pgs 46-47). The Ground Floor Gallery exhibition ‘New Impressions’, features artists Neil Dunne, Margot Galvin, Fiona Kelly and Aoife Scott. The First Floor Gallery exhibition features work from Graphic Studio, Fingal members, on the occasion of their 60th MAKING ART PRINTING PAGE 46 anniversary. Draíocht continues its INCUBATE Studio Residency Programme, including this season: Susan Buttner, whose practice is concerned with ideas around knowledge and power, and identity politics; and Orla Kelly, an artist well known for her stunning creations at our Toddler Takeover each year (pgs 50-51). Artists Susan Buttner, Ellen Duffy, John Rainey and Katherine Sankey will have their work included in ‘A World of their Own’ as part of PLATFORM 2020, an exhibition and series of associated performance events showcasing the work of emerging and early career artists (pgs 48-49). Draíocht’s two gallery spaces are free to visit and open Monday to Saturday 10am-6pm. DRAÍOCHT - CHILDREN & YOUNG PEOPLE Inspired by our printing exhibition, children aged 2-4 years can enjoy PLATFORM 2020 PAGE 48 ‘Stamping & Stencilling’ and ‘Wibbly Wobbly Lines’ workshops (pg 32), while artists Aoife Scott and Margot Galvin will show you their printing techniques at our Family Days (pg 34). Book early for our sensory friendly screening during the Easter Holidays of ‘Moana’ (pg 08); and get your dancing shoes on for ‘Tiny Dancer’ (pg 11). Draíocht’s 6th Toddler Takeover event takes place from 10-11 June for ages 1-5 years (pg 33), including a Sensory Friendly day. -
