Specific Roads Policing training courses are available for all our staff supported by Learning & Professional Development dept. We provide modules of training for new recruits to over their first year and these are based on the Roads Policing role profile with additional support for Serious Crash Investigation Unit accredited against the National Investigators Examination and the ICIDP (National PIP 2 investigators course). We have researchers in both forces who assess the risks and emerging threats on the Road network for both forces. A summary of that data is produced to support and inform the Roads Policing Tasking and Coordinating Group (TCG) every 2 months, where tasking priorities are agreed. Problem solving activity includes use of partnership involvement in areas such as Engineering solutions, Community Speed watch, Highways, Road Safety, Education and Media. We make excellent use of the information shared to us by partners and have information sharing agreements in place. At a National level we attend meetings and use the information provided by partners at NRPOI to support and inform our Working strategy with National Road Safety campaigns. We remain committed in supporting the National Campaign Calendar, At a force level we have developed excellent Road safety initiatives and partnerships such as the Older Drivers forum and developed new partnership initiatives such as use of the Mobile phone detection equipment to help educate drivers and improve road safety. Our Road safety team provide education to companies and deliver Safe Drive Say alive to over 24000 young adults each year as well as organising National and Force Road safety campaigns, ensuring we have good media engagement to highlight the campaign followed by focussed enforcement activity. Development of Community Speed watch and both force Pilots surrounding CSW.org. This supports cross border sharing of information to educate speeding motorists and further adds to our intelligence provision through the sharing of information to identify and manage high harm locations and offenders. This has the added benefit of engaging more volunteers as a result of the improvements CSW.org brings through efficient management, training, support and cost effectiveness. We continue to comply with the circular in relation to use of speed and red light cameras. Over the last year we have reviewed our data collection criteria to further improve our deployment of both fixed and mobile speed cameras. We are in the process of a digital camera upgrade, virtually complete in TVP, ongoing in Hants – all fully compliant with DFT circular 1/2007.
