8 TTCF Pre-Convention Tour Wednesday, 9:00am - 4:00pm

Your tour of Pike’s Peak begins at 6571 feet and departs from Manitou Depot. The Cog Railway is 8.9 miles long and the tour lasts a little over 3 hours.

The first leg of the trip takes you along Ruxton Creek in Englemann Canyon. Here the steep track follows a cascading stream through dense stands of Englemann spruce, and Colorado blue spruce, as well as Ponderosa pine trees.

The middle leg of the trip is on a gentler grade. Right below the old settlement of Ruxton Park, the train passes through what is known as “Hell Gate,” a natural gateway in the mountains. After a few more minutes, one gets a first glimpse of Pikes Peak!

At about the 5 mile point, the grade steepens again. Once the train climbs above the timberline, the views become more expansive. When the tour is finished, we will have lunch at the one of the most popular local eateries . Following lunch you will have some time for touring and shopping in Manitou Springs. Manitou Springs is a small town hidden between and Pikes Peak. For those that would prefer to return to the hotel after lunch in lieu of visiting Manitou Springs, that option will be available.

$99.00 per person Tour includes: Transportation, All Admissions, Guide & Lunch

10 SIMCOM Presents THE TWIN CESSNA FLYER GROUND SCHOOL COMPANION PINCH-HITTER COURSE

Many of us fly regularly with a companion. Some fly because they enjoy it, but many are uncomfortable with flying to some degree or another. One important benefit of a Pinch- Hitter course is that it nearly always allays non pilot's fears, spoken or unspoken, about flying. It is probably worth it just for that alone.

A flying companion can be a tremendous asset. With training you can make your flying safer, easier and more enjoyable. The Pinch-Hitter course includes basic instruction in aircraft control, navigation and radio usage. It's great to have some knowledgeable assistance when you need it. With a little effort, the companion can take over some of the routine jobs, leaving the pilot more time to better concentrate on flying. In the event of an emergency, wouldn't it be nice to have someone in the right seat who can help rather than panic?

To all Flying Companions, if you have ever wanted to know more about what is happening in the cockpit, this course is for you. Taking this class will help you become a better flying partner. The more you know, the more you can relax inflight. Some back seat flying companions will learn to appreciate sitting in the front seat. Most of all, you will be proud to contribute to making each flight safe and enjoyable.

This course is ground school only and will be available to all registered TTCF companions on Thursday, May 28th from 9:30am to 12:00pm. There is no charge to all registered TTCF Companions, but please sign up on page 2 of the Member Registration Packet.
