QUOTES Colorado RW Mikko Rantanen On Tonight’s Game: “Obviously, tonight it was a great team effort again. You know, we go down in the third, but there’s a lot to believe in this team and we believe we can do it every night. Obviously in OT, Carl (Colorado C Carl Soder- berg) made an unreal pass so I just tried to get it to the net and this time it went in. It was big.” POSTGAME NOTES & QUOTES COLORADO AVALANCHE 3, CALGARY FLAMES 2 (OT) STANLEY CUP PLAYOFFS | ROUND 1, GAME 4 | APRIL 17, 2019 COL LEADS SERIES 3-1

On The Avs’ Momentum In The Third Period: “When they defend pretty much the whole period after that 2-0 goal, it’s hard to switch it up right away back to offensive hockey. And, as you could probably see in the OT, we were humming and we had a lot of good chances even before my goal.”

Colorado C Nathan MacKinnon On Getting The Win: “It’s the best feeling. It’s an amazing feeling, all of your teammates coming. [That] goal, it was huge. I mean, 3-1 or 2-2 is a massive difference. You know, (Calgary G Mike) Smith played another amazing game. I think we had mid-50’s again in shots, so we’re doing everything we can, he’s just been really good.”

On Tonight’s Game: “I thought we had a good first period, a solid first. They took it to us in the first 10 of the -sec ond, but in the last 30 minutes of the game, we controlled the whole game and it’s very encouraging that we can flip the switch. You don’t have to play a perfect game to win and we did that tonight.”

Colorado G Philipp Grubauer On Colorado RW Mikko Rantanen’s Game-Winning Goal: “Huge. Way to step up and tied it up and then got the winner, so, huge. We killed the penalty off and then we get a good scoring chance and we capitalized.”

On Getting The Win: “It was huge to get that win. Now we are looking forward to wrapping this up in Calgary. We know they’re going to come out really hard and really strong in front of their own crowd. It’s going to be an exciting game for sure.”

Calgary G Mike Smith On Tonight’s Game: “This one definitely hurts. We played better, I think it was a more competitive game, we played more up to our speed and had our chances. We have a two-goal lead with 10 minutes left and we can’t find a way to push it along and win in regulation there so that’s obviously tough. We get a power play and we have a chance in overtime there, the goalie makes a good save and obviously they bury it on one of their chances. So, that’s the way it goes and series keeps moving on forward.”

On His Performance: “It’s nothing personal. I could care less about that. It’s about winning, it’s about the team winning. I’m just one little cog so I think it’s nice to have personal success, obviously, but when you don’t get the result it doesn’t matter. You need to do more. Like I said, this one stings. Especially when you have the lead 10 minutes left in the third. This one stings.”

Calgary D Mark Giordano On Tonight’s Game: “We had a two-goal lead in the third and couldn’t lock it down. We had a couple errors there that got into overtime. In overtime I thought we had a couple really good looks that one shift, there was a mad scramble and then after that they had some good looks too. Disappointed, doesn’t feel good now, obviously, los- ing twice now in overtime to them but we’ll regroup. We got a big home game coming up and we got to get back there.”

On The Turning Point: “They gained a lot of momentum at two points in the game, at the end of the second and we shut it down. In the third we were good up until their goal and then they got some real momentum, obviously, and they scored a late one again to tie it. We just have to regroup here, get back home and know that we lost two in overtime here. The only one that’s been really out of hand is the last one but tonight we just couldn’t stop the momentum after they got their first one. We got to do a better job of that.”
