COLORADO AVALANCHE POSTGAME NOTES COLORADO AVALANCHE 3, VEGAS GOLDEN KNIGHTS 2 (OT) COLORADO LEADS SERIES 2-0 WEDNESDAY, JUNE 2, 2021 | BALL ARENA THREE STARS TEAM NOTES First Star The Avalanche is 4-0 in the playoffs and the only remaining playoff team to be undefeated at home. Going back to Philipp Grubauer the regular season, the Avs have won 13 straight games at Ball Arena and are 20-0-1 in their last 21 on home ice. 39 saves Colorado is now 41-31 all-time in playoff overtime, including a 31-22 record since moving to Denver. Second Star Mikko Rantanen Samuel Girard (2a), Devon Toews (1a), Cale Makar (1a) and Ryan Graves (1a) combined for five points tonight. The 1 point (1g/0a) Avs have 23 points (3g/20a) from the blue line in the playoffs, the most of any team. Third Star Colorado finished 2-for-6 on the power play, its third straight game with multiple power-play goals and fourth of Cale Makar the postseason. The Avs are 10-for-23 (43.5%) with the man advantage, tops in the league. 1 point (0g/1a) INDIVIDUAL NOTES Mikko Rantanen scored the game-winning goal in overtime to extend his playoff point streak to 16 games going back to TEAM STATS last season. He has collected 26 points (9g/17a) over that stretch, including 10 points (3g/7a) so far in the 2021 Stanley Avalanche Cup Playoffs. Rantanen’s goal was his second game-winner of the playoffs and fourth of his career. It was also his second career overtime winner in the playoffs (also: R1 Game 5 vs. Calgary, April 17, 2019). Faceoffs: 44% Brandon Saad has scored in five consecutive games, tied with Michel Goulet (1985) for the third-longest postseason goal streak in franchise history. Only Claude Lemieux (7 games in 1997) and Joe Sakic (7 games in 1996) have longer Golden Knights playoff goal streaks. Shots: 41 Cale Makar, who recorded the assist on Rantanen’s game-winning tally, has points in three straight games and six points (1g/5a) over that stretch.
