Two fi rst-ever local cannabinoid-infused wines launched

Two fi rst-ever locally produced cannabinoid (compounds found in cannabis)-infused wines were launched during an exclusive intimate setting at the Corner Shop in Waterkloof, east of Pretoria, on Tuesday evening. “I’m sure this wine will take off , it’s a wellness wine after all,” wine connoisseur Charles McMullen said, adding a major retailer had also shown interest in the wine. However, the batches of the red and white wine were made in a limited number. “We’ve only had 4 000 bottles of each wine made,” he said. McMullen explained the idea for the cannabinoid-infused wine stemmed from an elderly man and his son who were in possession of legal cannabinoid oil. Ronel Botha and Merita Wickens also attended the event. Photo: Keitumetse Maako. Inwoner se R250k-rekening Sinesipho Schrieber lank ontvang het. Andrea Agathangelou leaves his Titans family to focus on his business interests. Photo: Twitter Titans player calls it quits after fulfi lling cricket career At the age of 30, popular Titans batsman Andrea Agathangelou has called time on his career. He leaves behind a dressing room that will miss the ‘Aggers’ banter, and also a middle- order that will miss his stability and appetite for big runs. “It’s sad that a 13-year professional career has come to an end. But I’m looking forward to the next chapter of my life, and I’m incredibly grateful to have ended my career with the greatest team in the world, “ an emotional but content Agathangelou said. Looking back on his time with the Sky Blues and in fi rst-class cricket, Agathangelou readily jumps to his record-breaking stand with Yasseen Vallie, when he amassed a triple century. “Career highlights that jump to mind are defi nitely the 313 runs I scored earlier this year batting with Yasseen, to break a 100-year-old South African record,” he refl ected. He was also infl uential elsewhere, though the Sky Blues have always been a massive part of his cricketing life. “Being part of the 2011 championship winning team with Lancashire was also another special moment for me. But winning trophies with the Titans, and just every day that I got to spend in the sky-blue kit, will always be things that I really cherish,” he admitted. Agathangelou looks back on his years at SuperSport Park and the friends he made most fondly. It was there he turned his dreams from young days in Rustenburg into a shimmering reality. He made runs and friends and collected trophies and memories. “I can only describe my time at the Titans as living out a childhood dream. Rubbing shoulders and becoming “family” with some of the biggest names in the game is something I’ll treasure forever. But it’s not only the big names and the famous faces that I’ll remember,” he pointed out. He was a popular man around the whole place, and he had a special mention for those unsung heroes around the team. “The admin staff , all the way to the security and cleaning staff , were all united and shared in a special bond that is Titans cricket,” he remarked. Now, Agathangelou begins a new innings in life, one where his family will take pride of place in his priorities. “I am looking forward to moving full time into business. I’m sure my teammates and coaches can attest to the fact that it has always been a passion of mine,” he smiled. Titans CEO Dr Jacques Faul said Agathangelou was a great team man, and someone they will miss hugely in the squad. “We can only thank him for what he represented and achieved whenever he was in a Sky Blues shirt,” said Faul. A proud husband and loving father, Agathangelou has much to look forward to in his next phase. Saying goodbye to the game that has given him so much hasn’t been easy, but he knows the time is right. The Lions lowered the fl ags of the Blue Bulls (26-17) in the third round of the SA Rugby u.21 Provincial Championship at Emirates Airline Park on Monday. The Lions have now moved into the second place on the log standings, but have a bye in round four, while the Blue Bulls, despite their defeat, still stays top, courtesy of two strong wins in their fi rst two matches. It was a massive Monday afternoon slog between the two top teams in the championship, but in the end the Lions outlasted the defending champions, to remain in contention for the fi nal. The two packs of forwards had a proper go at each other, but in the end the Lions probably had the upper hand upfront, played their territory better and used their opportunities, while the Blue Bulls made too many mistakes, were ill- disciplined and seemed lethargic at stages.
