Over the years, the competition has attracted a large number of primary school pupils within Ogun State and Lagos State. It is worth mentioning that a total of one thousand one hundred and fifty-five (1,155) pupils from four hundred and two (402) schools within the aforesaid states entered for the competition in its 5th edition. We, therefore, use this medium to invite your school to participate in the 6th edition which comes up in January, 2018. OUR CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY Our citadel of learning, founded in 1998, is a Christian co-educational school which provides all- round education for learners. It is the reason that we are committed to building a total child. In today’s evolutionary world, we do not make light the importance of education in solving problems. One vital school subject which we, from our wealth of experience, discovered to have the capability to improve creative problem-solving skills in learners in different educational levels is Mathematics. It is on account of the above that we consider TUMA competition a part of our corporate social responsibilities. Thus, our target learners and competitors are primary five and six pupils in private and public schools within the states which form our areas of coverage. What inspires our decision to begin from the grassroots is the need to eliminate phobia for Mathematics with a view to preparing the pupils for future problem-solving tasks, even as they advance to higher educational levels. This, you will admit, will stimulate learners’ interest for Mathematics. In the same vein, other science subjects will be pursued to boost the development of science and technology. ...where God helps us to make a Total Child AIMS OF THE COMPETITION Among others, TUMA is ambitioned to: ➢ discover, encourage and challenge mathematically gifted learners in Nigeria; ➢ reduce and ultimately eliminate mathematics phobia amongst pupils in our country; ➢ stimulate the interest of pupils in the study of Mathematics; ➢ identify talented students and engage them in enrichment programmes; ➢ use the results (statistics) of the competition to identify areas of need and implement intervention programmes; ➢ foster friendly relationship among mathematicians in the country; and ➢ develop the required skills amongst teachers, so that they can use the competition as a reference material and encourage their pupils to participate, and by so doing, meet the needs of the mathematically talented and the mathematically challenged/weak students. 2017 EDITION OF TUMA To the glory of our Lord, the fifth edition of TUMA took a laudable turn. Its first stage came about on January 21, 2017 with 1,155 pupils from 402 schools within Ogun State and Lagos State. These numbers, to a large extent, speak volumes about how viral our vision is and how that we have indefatigable co-vision bearers – our participating schools.
