[email protected] What started out as an ordinary holiday job back in 1990 for senior inspector of the Bloemfontein SPCA, Reinet Meyer, turned into 30 years of service at the Bloemfontein SPCA; a service done with extreme passion and love throughout the years. With more than 160 successful animal cruelty cases that went to court, and let’s not mention the thousands and thousands of animals she rescued, Meyer has defi nitely played an immense role in what and where the organisation is today. In an interview with Bloemfontein Courant, Meyer mentioned that the amount of animal cruelty she saw in the fi rst month of her holiday job was one of the reasons she decided to dedicate her life to helping animals in need. “My motto in life is to help an animal in need every day. Every day we see more and more cases of animal cruelty and it is satisfying to be able to help animals. A bonus for us is our court cases being successful and to be able to get a fi ne or even jail time for the guilty parties,” said Meyer.
