    Press Release 28 February 2019 UKHO releases enhanced chart coverage of Bridgwater Bay UK Hydrographic Office produces upgraded chart to support developments in Somerset The Taunton-headquartered UK Hydrographic Office (UKHO) has released a new chart providing enhanced coverage of Bridgwater Bay and the River Parrett. The upgraded chart is available as both an Electronic Navigational Chart (ENC) and in paper format, helping mariners to plan and execute safe and efficient voyages, supporting wider infrastructure development in the area as well as benefiting the local economy. The chart covers the approach to the River Parrett across Bridgwater Bay and south-eastwards to the river berths of Combwich and Dunball. Supporting and enabling safe passage at sea is at the core of what the UKHO does, and the upgraded chart is essential for safe operational use of the Hinkley Point C Harbour to transport construction materials and equipment for the immense construction project. The UKHO worked closely with the Harbour Masters at Hinkley Point C Harbour and Port of Bridgwater to define the new chart limits and scale, along with ensuring that appropriate hydrographic surveys and details of the new developments were available to produce the chart. Chris Berkley, Master Mariner and Product Manager at UKHO, commented: “We are pleased to be able to release new and improved scale electronic and paper charts which give ships access to more detailed, highly accurate information that can support safe passage.   • Potential Transport Pipeline
    Potential Transport Pipeline Introduction During the development of the Growth Deal programme the Local Transport Board (LTB) has, on several occasions, considered a long list of potential transport projects and conducted a prioritisation process. Such prioritisation has then fed into the LEP process for framing an overall bid covering transport, place, business and skills projects. The most recent prioritisation exercise conducted by the LTB was in Spring 2016, in preparation for the Growth Deal 3 submission. In the intervening time there have been significant changes in funding mechanisms, such as the introduction of the Transforming Cities Fund and Housing Infrastructure Fund, which will provide opportunities to move forward some of the projects which had not secured Growth Deal funding. In anticipation that there might be some additional funding available for transport schemes, either from the existing Growth Deal programme, or potentially another round of funding to be allocated via Local Enterprise Partnerships, an exploratory meeting of the LTB Officer Group was held on 17th April 2019. This note summarises the conclusions of that meeting, together with some comments received subsequently. Assessment of potential schemes The officer group reviewed the list of projects which had been identified as candidates for Growth Deal 3 funding in 2015, leading to the prioritisation which supported the 2016 Growth Deal 3 bid. This list followed the open call for projects in Summer 2015, so could reasonably be considered to represent the schemes which, from the LEP’s perspective, were unfunded. With an initial focus on the short term (i.e. scope for projects to be delivered quickly in order to take advantage of any available Growth Deal funds), projects were assessed to understand whether funding had already been secured; whether they were deliverable in 2020/21; and whether they would contribute additional outputs in terms of jobs and housing.
