Teaching Philosophy The traditional definition of educare begins with the innate dignity of the pupil and their inherent desire for truth, beauty and goodness. As such, an effective education requires that three components work together towards a unified end. First, the credibility of the teacher—one’s witness and willingness to form authentic relationships with their students. Second, the compelling presentation of the truth—one’s ability to proclaim the truth through logic, beauty, literature, and art. Third, the willingness to bring these truths in relationship to bear on the whole of life— one’s interest in the unity of knowledge and complementarity of faith and reason. My teaching philosophy is focused on a classical understanding of mastery of a subject; students read and discuss principal texts guided by lectures, audio visual presentations, and dialogues on seminal ideas both within and outside of the traditional classroom.
