Mandate of Bohdan Paszkowski expired due to appointment to the post of the go- vernor of the Podlaskie Province on 9th December 2015. Anna Maria Anders was elected in a by-election conducted in the same constituency on 6th March 2016. The current Senate counts 86 men and 14 women. In the past, the number of wo- men senators ranged from 6 in the First Term to 23 in the Fifth. The average age of senators is 56 (in the past, it ranged from 49 in the Second Term to 56 in the Fifth and Eighth). 6 senators are younger than 40, 7 are older than 70. In the past, number of senators with parliamentary experience ranged from 4 in the First Term to 72 in the Eighth. 72 senators declare affiliation with a political party: 39 of them are members of the Law and Justice, 27 – of the Civic Platform of the Republic of Poland, 3 – of Poland Together United Right, 2 – of the Zbigniew Ziobro’s Solidary Poland and 1 – of the Catholic-National Movement. 28 senators have no party affiliation.
