Jamrog welcomed 99 HIGH EXPECTATIONS Mavericks to drills that will cover 24 practice sessions leading up to the 2006 season opener against Truman State on Thursday, August 24, at 6:30 p.m., in Mankato, Minn. Minnesota State will look to bounce back after posting a 2-9 record last season, losing five games by a touchdown or less, and two of those games to teams that advanced to the NCAA Divisional II national tournament. Heading into his third season as the Minnesota State head coach, Jeff Jamrog offers the following thoughts heading into fall camp: • The quarterback position: “It will be a battle as we go through two-a- days. HISTORY The recorded history of Women’s Basketball at North Dakota State University dates back to a mention of a team that was formed on campus (which was then known as the North Dakota Agricultural College) in 1899. The Spectrum from December, 15 1899 states that the “ladies have organized a basket-ball (sic) team and are practicing daily.” A 1901 contest against an intercollegiate rival, the Moorhead Normal School (Minnesota State University, Moorhead), according to The Spectrum, “was a crushing defeat for the Pedagogues (NDAC), for they were outclassed in every feature of the game, especially so in skill of manipulating the ball. The game, consisting of two halves of 20 minutes each was played in quarters. The final score was 20-1.” (The Spectrum, April 15, 1901, p.104.) NDSU Intercollegiate Women’s Basketball Records Page 2 of 20 Women’s intramural and intercollegiate athletics thrived through the 1910s, 1920s and 1930s, with teams competing and participating in basketball, baseball, riflery, tennis, track and field, field hockey, soccer, gymnastics, and bowling.

    BIG SKY ANNOUNCES ADDITIONS OF NORTH DAKOTA, SOUTHERN UTAH OGDEN, UTAH (November 1, 2010) - The Big Sky Conference is privileged to announce that the University of North Dakota and Southern Utah University have accepted invitations to become core members of the Division I conference. Both institutions received formal invitations from the league Friday, Oct. 29, advancing a process that began when the presidents of the nine current Big Sky Conference core universities approved expansion plans at their annual fall meeting on Oct. 20. Both institutions will officially join the Big Sky on July 1, 2012. However, representatives from both institutions will begin working immediately with the currently membership on scheduling, marketing, and other conference matters. “The presidents wanted to position the Big Sky Conference as a major player in football in the West,’’ said Big Sky Conference Commissioner Doug Fullerton. “But most importantly, we wanted the right kinds of schools. Our presidents have always been driven by adding institutions that fit with the schools we currently have. We’ve added two institutions that meet the criteria, and we’ve positioned ourselves to meet the visions of the presidents. We’re building a new kind of FCS confer- ence.” Monday’s additions bring the future Big Sky to 11 core members and 13 football playing members. The Big Sky Confer- ence is also on the verge of announcing the addition of the University of South Dakota as a 12th core member. The Big Sky will become a 14-team football league and split into two seven-team divisions. The Big Sky does not anticipate losing any of its current nine core members.

    UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH DAKOTA COYOTE FOOTBALL POWER OF THE PACK ne of the most successful programs at the University of South ODakota, the Coyote football team has notched more than 500 wins in its 114 years of competition. Over 200 USD student-athletes have earned first-team all-conference honors, while more than 40 continued their playing career in the National Football League. Behind the solid leadership of coaches like Dave Triplett, the Coyotes have qualified for postseason play four times. Current Head Coach Joe Glenn has continued that tradition of success while leading USD in the Missouri Valley Football Conference. USD’s achievements on the gridiron have been due in large part to its team mentality. Over the years, the Coyotes have banded together to craft a .516 winning percentage, including a 39-14 record in the DakotaDome since 2004. South Dakota squads have earned 10 conference championships in the NCC with its last coming in 2005.
