A Letter of Intent has been issued by the Director General Mines & Geology Department, Haryana vide letter no DMG/Hy/Cont/ Devdhar Block/YNR B-24 /2015/3933/dated 19-06-2015 for Mining of Boulder,Graval & Sand (Minor Mineral) in revenue village Devdhar , over an area of 31.87 hectares in District- Yamunanagar , Haryana for a period of 8 years Name of Block Nme of Village Area of block in ha Lease period Devdhar Block/YNR B-24 Devdhar 31.87 8 years The applicant is involved in the Construction & infrastructure development business for last many years. They can invest necessary funds for the scientific and systematic development of mines including land rejuvenation and progressive reclamation programme and other measures necessary to protect the quality of the environment and human health etc. The objective of preparation of this Mining Plan and Progressive Mine Closure Plan is to fulfill the conditions stipulated by the Department of Mines & Geology, Haryana required under Haryana Minor Mineral Concession Rules, 2012. The conditions which are related to the mining plan are reproduced here below. Ø The period of contract shall commence w.e.f the date of grant of environmental clearance by competent authority as required under EIA notification dated 14.09.2006 and as amended from time to time by the MOEF,G o I or on expiry of a period of 12 months from the date of acceptance of highest bid/issuance of “Letter of Intent”,(L o I) whichever is earlier; Ø Any site/area can be withdrawn from the Auction without assigning any reason; 1 Ø Though due care had been taken in specifying the details of the areas of the mining blocks. However, in case of any inadvertent clerical mistake, the same shall be got rectified/corrected even after the auction but before execution of contract agreement; Ø The Block areas are Tentative and are being notified on ‘as is where is basis’ and all prospective bidders are expected and presumed to have surveyed the areas to make their own assessment for the potential of the areas for which bids are to be offered. The State government shall not be responsible for any kind of loss in land / area or any other loss to the bidders/contractors at any point of time (before or after grant of contract) on account of reduction of land/ area or otherwise. Further, the bidders are also expected to have gone through the terms and conditions of auction notice and also the applicable Acts and Rules for undertaking mining; Ø No request regarding reduction in bid amount on account of reduction in land/area of the Mining Block, on any account including that of change in description of khasra numbers / location etc. at any stage will be entertained on any ground. This shall also include any loss/reduction of area for actual mining for want of compliance of applicable laws/restrictions for mining or part of the contracted area had already been operated in the past. Needless to state that this also includes the changes, if any, as per condition no. (3) and the prospective bidder shall give their bids taking account of all such eventualities; Ø The contractor shall also deposit/pay an additional amount equal to 10% of the due contract money along with instalments towards the ‘Mines and Minerals Development, Restoration and Rehabilitation Fund’; Ø The mining contractor shall got prepare a “Mining Plan” along with the Mine Closure Plan (Progressive & Final) from the Recognized Qualified Person as per chapter 10 of the “Haryana Minor Mineral Concession, Stocking, Transportation of Minerals and Prevention of Illegal Mining Rules, 2012” for mining area granted on contract. The contractor shall not commence mining operations in any area except in accordance with such Mining Plan duly approved by an officer authorized by the Director, Mines & Geology, in this behalf. Further, the actual mining will be allowed to be commenced only after prior Environmental Clearance is obtained by the LoI holder/mining contractor for the Mining blocks area from Competent Authority as required under notification dated 14/9/2006 issued by the MoE&F, GoI or as amended from time to time. 2 Ø The total mineral excavated and stacked by the concession holder within the area granted on mining contract shall not exceed two times of the average monthly production as per approved Mining Plan at any point of time. Ø The Mining contractor shall not stock any mineral outside the concession area granted on mining contract, without obtaining a valid mineral dealer license as per provisions contained in Chapter 14 of the “Haryana Minor Mineral Concession, Stocking, Transportation of Minerals and Prevention of Illegal Mining Rules, 2012”.

The in-house bulletin of NWDA gives an overview of the main functions and objectives of NWDA in the field of Water Resources Planning and Development, particularly with respect to Inter Basin Water Transfer (IBWT) as well as Intra-State Water Transfer Projects commonly known as the Programme on Interlinking of Rivers (ILR), Government of India, under the Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation (MoWR,RD&GR). It is pertinent to mention that the NWDA, with the support and guidance of Hon’ble Minister (WR, RD & GR) and Secretary (WR, RD &GR), has accomplished all its assigned functions in an efficient and effective manner during the year 2017, in spite of many hurdles and constraints especially relating to the shortage of Technical Officers. The main works dealt and completed by NWDA during the period of 1st January, 2017 to 31st December, 2017 and that indicated in the annual issue are related with the Techno-Economic Clearance and Water Sharing Issues of Ken-Betwa (Phase-I/II), Par- Tapi-Narmada and Damanganga-Pinjal Link Projects along with their Clearances from Wild Life, Environment, Forest Land Diversion, Ministry of Tribal Affairs (MoTA), Investment, Funding Pattern and Implementation Mechanism Departments. All the Clearances could be obtained mainly because of the concerted efforts taken by NWDA. In addition to these activities, NWDA also organized India Water Week-2017- the fifth event in the series during 10-14 October, 2017 by concurrently conducting the International Conference and Water Expo-2017; 3rd and 4th Jal Manthan respectively on 13.01.2017 and 27-28.07.2017; 64th Meeting of the Governing Body of NWDA on 27.03.2017; and 31st Annual General Meeting of NWDA on 12.09.2017.

As is well known, the description of the Saraswatl river, given in the Veda, differs much from that met with in the Hahabharata and other ancient but later authorities, while neither agrees with the present condition of that sacred stream. In the Rig Yeda we are told of a large and rapid river flowing from the mountains to the sea. The Mahabharata describes the same stream as losing itself in the sands. At the present day we find a river, wide and rapid during floods, but containing little water at other times, joining another stream of similar character, and thereupon losing its name; the river below the confluence being now called Gaggar.

Mycosphere 5(3), 440-461, Doi 10.5943/mycosphere/5/3/7 Abstract In the present study, the diversity, edibility, indigenous knowledge and distribution of wild edible mushrooms in the Northwestern Himalaya are discussed. The information provided herein was derived from a study carried out in the states of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh during the period of 2000-2013. A total of 23 species of mushrooms considered as edible or used for trade were recorded. Twenty-one of these are basidiomycetes and two are ascomycetes. Certain species of Amanita, Agaricus, Astraeus, Hericium, Macrolepiota, Morchella, Pleurotus and Termitomyces are very commonly collected and consumed by the local people, whereas species of Auricularia, Cantharellus, Sparassis, Lactarius, Ramaria and Russula are less commonly collected and consumed. Cordyceps sinensis and several species of Morchella are collected specifically for trade purposes in the spring season in high elevation areas of the Himalaya.
