The diagnoses and descriptions are provided and remarks on distribution are given. Key words: Araneae, Salticidae. Phlegra, Phintella, Yamangalea, jumping spiders, new species, taxonomy, biogeography Introduction As the result of intense taxonomic research and biodiversity surveys conducted over the last decades, our knowl- edge on the Australian salticid fauna has increased considerably. Including the taxa treated here, the current check- list comprises 77 verified genera and 368 species (Richardson & Żabka 2003; Żabka 2006, unpubl.). Tropical and temperate rainforests and deserts are especially fruitful in providing new data and the genera Phlegra, Phintella and Yamangalea illustrate this rule very well, each being of different origin and distributional history. Material and methods The material for study came from the collections of the Australian Museum, Sydney (AMS) and the Queensland Museum, Brisbane (QMB). Methods of specimen examination follow Żabka (1991). Photographs of specimens (fixed in Taft hair gel) were taken with a Canon A620 camera and Nikon 800 stereomicroscope and were digitally processed with ZoomBrowser and HeliconFocus software. The data on latitudes and longitudes (given either in minutes and seconds or in decimal format) are re-written from the labels.

At this moment, Herakles is lying in among his dead family members, ashamed of his actions, not wanting Theseus to see his face. I have included some lines here of the discussion between Theseus and Amphitryon, that will lead into the essential discussion between Herakles and Theseus. Theseus What do you mean? What has he done? Amphitryon Slain them in a wild fit of frenzy with arrows dipped in the venom of the hundred-headed hydra. Theseus This is Hera's work; but who lies there among the dead, old man? McPhee: The Voyage of the Argo and Other Modes of Travel in Apollonius’ Argonautica (Under the direction of William H. Race) This thesis analyzes the Argo as a vehicle for travel in Apollonius’ Argonautica: its relative strengths and weaknesses and ultimately its function as the poem’s central mythic paradigm. To establish the context for this assessment, the first section surveys other forms of travel in the poem, arranged in a hierarchy of travel proficiency ranging from divine to heroic to ordinary human mobility. The second section then examines the capabilities of the Argo and its crew in depth, concluding that the ship is situated on the edge between heroic and human travel. The third section confirms this finding by considering passages that implicitly compare the Argo with other modes of travel through juxtaposition. FAMILY PISAURIDAE The Pisauridae is a large cosmopolitan family of spiders represented in South Africa by 12 genera and 36 species of which 8 are endemic species. • Common names : Pisauridae (nursery web spiders); Eupros- thenops (funnel-web pisaurids); Thalassius (fish eating spiders). • Life style : the family has diverse life-styles and have reverted from web-building to free-living wanderers. • Body size : 8-30 mm (males more slender). • Diagnostic characters : colour : cryptic with carapace frequently decorated with white longitudinal bands or symmetrical patterns of black on brown or grey on black, abdomen with paler longitudi- nal bands or spots; carapace : longer than wide with blunt tuber- cles on the anterolateral edge of clypeus in some genera; eyes : 8 arranged in 2 rows (4:4), 3 rows (4.2.2) or 4 rows (2.2.2.2) with at least one pair of eyes on shallow tubercles, some genera with cluster of setae between anterior eyes; abdomen : elongated, tapering towards back; legs : relatively long, sometimes slightly laterigrade with numerous spines. • Web and retreat : web : absent to diverse type of webs are made varying from large sheet-webs with funnel retreats to sheet webs made on plants or the soil surface; retreat : in web builders the funnel part of web is used as a retreat. In the plant dwellers the leaf is slightly bent downwards and a short tube-like retreat with both ends open, is constructed in the curve of the leave. • Habitat : the pisaurids are found in a variety of habitats and are common inhabitants of grassland, savanna, desert and forest areas.

He may appreciate, in a degree, its loveliness, strength, and direct hold upon the catholic truth of life. But he will be more sensitive to these appeals, and receive gifts that are richer and less perishable, accord- ing as he comprehends the forces by whose interaction the poem was produced. These are of two kinds the innate forces of the poet's character, and certain more external forces, such as, in the case of Milton, are represented by Hellenism and Hebraism. Their activ- ity is greatest where they meet and touch, and at this point their nature and measure are most easily dis- cerned. From a contemplation of the poem in its gene- sis one returns to a deeper understanding and enjoyment of it as a completed whole. The present study, though it deals with but one of the important cultural influ- ences affecting Milton, and with it but in part, endeav- ors by this method to deepen and clarify the apprecia- tion of his art and teaching. My interest in the present work has found support and encouragement in the opinions of Mr. Churton Collins, as expressed in his valuable book.
