Does your company have a Volume License Agreement today? If YES, then do you have Software Assurance? If YES – you are good to go! Remember all Enterprise Agreements (EA) have Software Assurance so if you have an EA you are ready to use IronKey Windows To Go. 2. If you are not sure about your Microsoft licenses... If you aren’t sure, then it is easy to figure out. Many individual customers do not know how software licenses are purchased or what is owned. Internally you can ask your software purchasing person, or you can call your local Reseller and request a copy of your MLA (Microsoft Licensing Agreement). A MLA will list what your company has licensed. In speaking with a Microsoft Licensing Specialist, 9 times out of 10 companies will have some form of Microsoft License Agreement in place! You may have access to the right license already. 3. If your company does not have a Volume License Agreement... Microsoft makes it easy to acquire a license... though the amount of options can be confusing. The first question Microsoft Licensing will ask about is if there is a ‘qualifying OS’ in use: • A qualifying OS is a Windows 10/8/7 Professional or Ultimate. • If you have one of these OS’es then there are a variety of programs that grant rights to future OS licenses (like to upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 8.1 or 10), offer an Upgrade License and/or to attach Software Assurance. Most companies with more than a handful of end users who like to stay current on their operating system for security reasons or update patching access will opt for purchasing a volume license with Software Assurance. Most companies who purchase their PCs from Dell, HP or other sources probably received a pre-installed Pro or Ultimate License. These customers are eligible for programs such as Open Business or Open Value and other licensing programs. Customers who purchased consumer PCs at retail may have an OS that needs to be upgraded first. 4. If your organization does not want to commit to Volume Licensing, there are other potential licensing options available for their organization... Open Business • This program allows you to purchase as few as 5 licenses and to attach Software Assurance. You get OS upgrade license rights, which allows you to move Windows XP to Windows 8/8.1 or Does anything change Windows 8/8.1 to 10, and all the value of Software Assurance with Windows 10? for two years for under $300 (less than $150/year MSRP) – the For IronKey Windows To Go, good part is renewal of Open Business is $109 MSRP – very cheap the answer is no! going forward!
