Notice of Election General Election and Nonpartisan Judicial Run-Off NOTICE OF ELECTION GENERAL ELECTION AND NONPARTISAN JUDICIAL RUN-OFF The Board of Election Commissioners of Washington County, Arkansas, pursuant to Arkansas election law 7-5-202, does hereby proclaim that a General Election will be held in Washington County, Arkansas, on Tuesday, November 6, 2012. On Election Day, voters may vote only at the polling site for their precinct. Because of the expected large turnout, poll supervisors may not be able to get through to the County Clerk’s office to verify your voting location if different from the one you went to. To check your voter registration status and find your polling place go to www.voterview.org. If your voter registration has changed and if you have questions concerning your eligibility to vote, or don’t have access to the internet, please call the County Clerk’s office at 444-1711 prior to Election Day. Early voting: County Clerk’s Office, Washington County Courthouse: October 22nd to November 5th. Hours: Monday thru Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Saturdays: October 27th, November 3rd 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; Monday, November 5th 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Closed on Sundays. Quorum Court Room, Washington County Courthouse: October 22nd to November 5th. Hendren, who has been the lead sponsor of multiple State Chamber/AIA bills in past Sessions. Here are excerpts from a story published yesterday by Mike Wickline of the Arkansas Democrat Gazette about the Legislative Leadership elections: The Arkansas Senate Republican caucus voted Tuesday to nominate Sen. Jim Hendren of Sulphur Springs over Sen. Jimmy Hickey of Texarkana to be the next president pro tempore, Hendren said Tuesday afternoon. Some senators and Capitol insiders had been privately speculating that there would be a close vote in the 23-member caucus for the upper chamber’s next leader. But Hendren said he doesn’t know what the vote count was for the post, and the ballots were destroyed. “We don’t disclose the vote counts,” said Hendren, who now serves as the majority leader. The Senate will formally choose a president pro tempore-elect on the last day of this year’s fiscal session and then vote to confirm him on the first day of the 2019 regular session. Since the Senate now includes 23 Republicans, nine Democrats and three vacant seats, the caucus’s decision to nominate Hendren as the Senate’s next leader is tantamount to his election for the post.
