New Students’ Union st TU Dublin Students’ Union was formally established on 1 July 2019, with the dissolution of DIT Students’ Union, IT Tallaght Students’ Union and IT Blanchardstown Students’ Union. The full time officers officially started their term and work begun on how this new Union would look, how we would work together and campaigns and events that would be rolled out. I delegated a number of the overall briefs to the Deputy Presidents to try get this consistency across the Union and is detailed in the documentation. 2. Funding The Union is structured differently across the campuses which affects the way we’re funded. The University understand that DITSU CLG is there to fund the services and operations of City Campus and there was a th formal funding agreement in place which ended on 30 June, while Tallaght and Blanchardstown have other arrangements and structures. We’re in negotiations to secure interim funding for the three campuses and overall Union for this academic year and ensure student organisations don’t see any loss in funding, especially on City Campus. It is my priority and that of the Executive to present and negotiate one funding arrangement for the Union before end of the year. 3. Daft.ie Rental Report I was given the opportunity to include an insert in Dafts.ie Quarterly Rental Report which is usually given to Students’ Union Presidents to include the perspective of students in their Autumn launch. The piece can found if you search Daft.ie Rental Report and it got good coverage with quotes on The Journal, Irish Mirror, The Sun, Extra.ie and full article included in Irish Independent. Thanks to the City Campus Education & Welfare team for helping me with the research and input into the press release that helped highlight the accommodation crisis affecting all students.
