There are so many schools of poetry and so many genealogies leading to its modern matrix, that to pronounce poetry dead is to profess one's own ignorance of this protean field - perhaps the only modem art form whose emergence hasn't been hamstrung by commercial distractions, as is par ticularly the case with film and painting.
