Fred Waring was first, organizing a choir in 1939 for radio broadcast Part One: A Really Bad Day prepared by Robert Shaw. In 1948 Waring Part Two: Through the Door began a five-year television stint along with Part Three: A New Day his radio broadcasts which evolved into Fred Waring and His Pennsylvanians.
