Polly Bergen's Southbury House Is on the Market (Web First) The Bulletin (CTBulletin.com) Business Polly Bergen's Southbury House Is on the Market (Web First) Friday, October 15, 2010 SOUTHBURY--Polley Bergen, the actress who starred opposite Gregory Peck and Robert Mitchum in the original "Cape Fear," and had a role on "The Sopranos," among so many other credits, has put her Southbury home on the market, according to a release from realtor Stacey Matthews of William Raveis Real Estate. The antique three-bedroom home on 9+/- acres has been renovated to perfection, according to Ms. Matthews, who wrote, "Charm oozes from every inch! 5 fireplaces, vaulted ceilings, exposed beams, and antique hardwood floors throughout. The large first floor master features a luxurious bath and walk-in closet. The property is truly magical with a pond, cabana, waterfalls and creatively designed stone walls and sculpture throughout." In her 50-year career as an actress, Ms. Bergen, has appeared in numerous film, television and theater roles, including that of Felicity Huffman’s neurotic mother on the Sunday night hit "Desperate Housewives," a role she is set to revisit this season. She won an Emmy award for "The Helen Morgan Story," and Emmy nominations for her roles in "The Winds of War" and "War and Remembrance," as well as a Tony award nomination for her role in the 2001 Broadway revival of "Follies." Ms. Matthews noted that residents of this historic town enjoy a country setting, as well as excellent access to business and commuter opportunities. Southbury’s mix of rural, suburban, and commercial areas make it an excellent spot to call home as either a permanent residence or weekend retreat, she said. The property is listed for $1,095,000. It is available for viewing by appointment only. Ms. Matthews may be reached at 860-868-9066, by e-mail at [email protected] or via the Web site www.staceymatthews.com. © 2010 The Litchfield County Times, a Journal Register Property .
