Atsegin duzu komikia? Barrez lehertu al zara noizbait Asterixekin eta Obelixekin, Mortadelorekin, Simpson senitartekoekin, edota beste hainbat eta hainbat pertsonaia ero, ero, erorekin? Gida honetan Barañaingo liburutegian dauzkagun haurrentzako zenbait komiki aurki ditzakezu. Horixe da Nafarroako Gobernuaren Hezkuntza Sailak abian jarritako “Galaxia-komiki” kanpainarekin bat egiteko gure modua, hain zuzen ere senitartean irakurtzeko zaletasuna piztu asmoz. Komikia, irudiez, testuez eta sarritan –baina ez beti- umorez jantzirik, haurrak eta gazteak betidanik erakarri dituen generoa da. Irakurtzeko zaletasuna duen edozein pertsona helduri huraxe nola piztu zitzaion galdetzen badiozu, litekeena da erantzutea umetatik komikiak irakurtzen hasi zela. -

Toward Fulfillment 1950–1958
9. Toward Fulfi llment 1950–1958 that he knew how to be generous is undeniable. Ingratitude was not in his character. He never abandoned a friend in adversity. Yet these virtues belonged to Georges Remi rather than to Hergé. Having begun a new start in midlife, the illustrator maintained a curious balancing act: the more he delegated work, the more he drew all the attention to himself; the more he was surrounded by others, the more he wanted to present the image of the solitary artist. He insisted repeat- edly that the adventures of Tintin were the work of a single author and not of a factory or a collective. Interviewers sometimes had to persist to get Hergé to recognize the contributions of others and to praise their work. Given the vanity of artists there is perhaps nothing paradoxical about this. In Hergé’s case, however, his self-involvement grew the moment his work became a truly group effort. No longer was Edgar Jacobs backing up Hergé, occasionally joined by temporary helpers. Now there was a team at his house working full time. Either Hergé denied them rights, or he would praise them as if they were Benedictine monks working at their illuminated manuscripts. Whether disparaged or praised, they constituted the Hergé Studios. The company was created on April 6, 1950, shortly after Belgium, always unsettled about the “royal issue,” voted in a referendum in favor of the eventual return of Léopold III, who had been exiled to Pregny-Chambéry near Geneva, Switzerland. (It disturbed Hergé, a fervent royalist, of course, that the king led with a slight majority among the Flemish voters but not 147 148 part iii: recognition among the Walloons.) Start-up capital amounted to 250,000 francs (current equivalent, $44,240). -
JOOST SWARTE EXHIBITION Y 23 MAY to 12 SEPTEMBER 2010
JOOST SWARTE EXHIBITION y 23 MAY TO 12 SEPTEMBER 2010 HERGÉ MUSEUM Louvain-la-Neuve 40 YEARS OF ART AND DESIGN Dutch artist Joost Swarte is showcasing a substantial selection of more than 200 thought-provoking and inspiring drawings: 40 years of creation! AN IMPORTANT ENCOUNTER At the time when Christian de Portzamparc was dream- ing up the design for the Hergé Museum, an encounter between the French architect and Joost Swarte would prove to be a pivotal event. A multi-talented artist and designer, Swarte also coined the expression ‘clear line’, which is used to refer to the style of cartooning epito- mised by Hergé. A comic strip author, Joost Swarte recently illustrated the cover for the May 2010 special issue of The New Yorker, the latest of many contribu- tions he has made to this bastion of American culture. The illustrator is also accomplished at design, creating such diverse works as furniture and stained glass windows. It is not surprising that Fanny Rodwell chose Joost Swarte to design the exhibition layout at the Hergé Museum. A SPECIAL LOCATION Besides the eight permanent galleries, the Hergé Museum boasts a dedicated space for temporary exhibitions. Fol- lowing the Making of and Chang – Hergé exhibitions, the Museum is proud to host an exhibition by Joost Swarte: it is certainly the perfect location for such an event. Visitors to the Museum already have the opportunity to find out all kinds of interesting and little-known facts about Hergé, and to discover unknown dimensions to the artist’s prolific career. The Joost Swarte exhibition provides the same level of fascinating insight into the work of the famous Dutch artist and graphic designer, who is also something of an unknown quantity in the French-speak- ing world. -

First approach: the sedentary journeys In the past, comics, just like adventure-based literature, were above all an economic way of travelling. The characters from comic books travelled the world on transatlantic ships, flew aboard aeroplanes, crossed the American continent on trains. Comic strips transported readers to worlds they would never know, yet ones they had heard about. Journeys were not yet democratized – some would say massified – yet literature was already moving in that direction. Tintin would not have been the same had he remained in Brussels in order to solve his cases – instead tireless masked heroes travelled through tropical forests and faced local savages, while exoticism permeated stories which evoked Salgarian atmospheres. -
Pdf Poética Posmoderna Transversal a Las Artes Y La Literatura : "Línea Clara"
ABSTRACT: With the epigraph clear line Joost Swarte defined an aesthetics based on Georges Rémi’s cómics (1907-1983), Hergé, creator of the famous Tintin. From that moment onwards, and from his conceptualization, the above mentioned poetics started moving to the painting —Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol, Equipo Crónica…—, the poetry —Pere Gimferrer, Luis A. de Cuenca…— and more recently to the rock music —Loquillo, in his album Balmoral—. In our communication we will analyze the elements that define the above mentioned postmodern poetics as well as to study, from a comparatist methodology, the influences that are taking place in different means indicated up to the literature. Key words: clear line, neatness, painting, music, poetry. El dibujante J. Swarte definió una estética a partir de los cómics de Tintín1 que denominó Línea Clara. -
