Friends of the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) c/o American Public Health Association 800 I Street NW Washington DC, 20016 202-777-2513 February 11, 2009 Dear Conferee: The undersigned members of the Friends of the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) coalition write in strong support of retaining the highest possible funding levels for HRSA’s community health centers and health workforce development programs in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 conference agreement. We believe that funding for community health centers and health workforce development in this bill are critical to improving the health of all Americans and reducing the growing economic and social costs associated with lack of access to primary and preventive health care services and providers. The Friends of HRSA coalition is a non-profit and non-partisan alliance of more than 120 national organizations, collectively representing millions of public health and health care professionals, academicians and consumers. Our member-organizations strongly support the programs at HRSA designed to ensure access to health services for each person in the U.S. and the elimination of health disparities. We are strong partners in supporting HRSA’s historic commitment to enhancing the health resources, workforce and infrastructure that lay the foundation for health care delivery in the United States. We strongly support the $600 million included in the House bill (H.R. 1) for the training of primary health care providers, including doctors, nurses and dentists, and urge that this funding be retained in the final conference agreement. We also support the $1.87 billion investment included in the Senate bill for addressing the construction, renovation and resource needs of our nation’s community health centers. -

La duda hace que el encuentro con otras personas que dicen haber sido abducidas siempre tenga relevancia para Mulder, Scully o ambos, como se puede ver con claridad en el caso de Cassandra Spender. Hasta que él mismo es abducido se da la paradójica situación de que quien cree en la posibilidad de la abducción es él mientras que Scully, abducida en la Temporada 2, siempre duda de quién la secuestró, convenciéndose de que los extraterrestres son responsables sólo cuando su compañero desaparece (y no necesariamente en referencia a su propio rapto). It’s both a stick and ...a carrot, a potential inducement, to induce the Taliban to uphold those basic international norms, the basic rights of its people," Price said. "But the FTO list, other sanctions, that’s one single tool.” The SDGT list, maintained by the US Treasury, is used for applying financial sanctions to groups that frustrate their operations, while the FTO prohibits material support for them and is much higher profile. -

I am now directing certain measures that will give this Administration, through the Task Force on Regulatory Relief, sufficient time to implement that process, and to subject to full and appropriate review many of the prior Administration's last-minute decisions that would increase rather than relieve the current burden of restrictive regulation. Last October, when my former Chief of Staff, Rahm Emanuel departed to pursue other opportunities in Chicago, I asked Pete Rouse, one of my most trusted aides, to step into the breach and lead us through a very difficult time. And I also asked Pete to help us think about how the White House should be structured and run over the next 2 years. Thanks in no small part to his efforts, a period that everybody thought would be one of retrenchment turned out to be one of great progress for our country. And Pete's leadership is all the more remarkable when you consider that when I first met him and asked him to lead my Senate staff, he told me in that gruff voice of his that his "strong inclination was to leave government." After—[laughter] The reason everybody is applauding is because they've heard him say that every day—[laughter]—they've heard him say that every day for the last 6 years. And yet each time I've asked him to accept one more assignment, he's saddled up and he's taken the job. And it's fair to say that I would not be where I am today without his extraordinary counsel. Now, Pete didn't volunteer to serve as Interim Chief of Staff. He made it clear that that was not his preference. -

RE: Writing an episode of the X Files. Yo, Chris! After some of the crap I've had to act in recently, I've been thinking that perhaps I should write an episode myself, to show the other guys how it should be done. So, I've had a few thoughts and this is an outline of the episode I'd like to write: Game of Gods. Mulder decides to share his body with a lonely alien whose own body has been destroyed in a spaceship crash. The alien gives Mulder the power to leap great heights. He leaves the FBI and becomes a top basketball star, winning game after game for his team and becoming adored by the whole world. Meanwhile, the alien introduces Mulder to his 12 wives, all of whom are blonde, with 3 enormous breasts each. Mulder is forced to have sex with them for the sake of his alien buddy (it's the least he can do). Meanwhile, Krycek threatens to expose Mulder's secret to the world, and Mulder has to beat him up a few times. (Nick Lea isn't prettier than I am is he? You're not really going to give him his own show, are you?) So - whaddya think? Let me know. I won't be offended if you turn the whole idea down, although I am the star of the show and I think you'll be hard pushed to replace me at short notice.
