There are Literally hundreds upon hundreds of great titles. If you would like to order from this newsletter you can email, phone or post an order. If phoning please feel free to call after hours From 8.00am up until 7.00pm is fine. I have a couple of pieces of bad news. Firstly my dear mum, Rose Reid, passed away on February 23rd. Many knew her as she worked Wednesdays at the old Parramatta store from 1990-2000 and filled in when I went on buying trips. It has been a trying period but I can honestly say she loved her time in the shop especially meeting and talking to many fine people and was a keen music buff, something that has passed on through the genes. Secondly, we lost a dear friend in Norm Pyne. Many who went to the Parramatta store would have seen a blind guy getting round with only a cane. My admiration for Norm was limitless. I never considered him handicapped in any way and he was always thankful for his independence. It is a sad irony of life that it is probably this independence which saw him involved in an horrific accident which cost him his life. -
Lonesomehighway Issue4.Pdf
In the fair city of Detroit, nestled among the garage- rock nooks and country crannies, lurks the music of Blanche. Husband and wife Dan and Tracee Miller trade intense and haunting vocals over an uneasy sea of pedal steel, banjo, raw guitar sounds, and sparse, driving drumming. The moods created in the songs seem to define Blanche. Some songs are sad and pretty, while others have a powerful, spooky feel. The melodies trick you into singing along with tales of superstitions, garbage picking, fading trust, and feelings of lost hope. The sound combines the intense desperation of the Gun Club, the sincere sadness of the Carter Family, and the creepy playfulness of Lee Hazlewood Intro taken from the biography on the Blanche website which is well worth a visit and a wonderful design. www.blanchemusic.com INTERVIEW BY STEVE RAPID | PHOTOGRAPHY BY RONNIE NORTON Tell us what the secret of Little Amber Bottles is? Aunt Jo's Scrap Bag Louisa May Alcott
AUNT JO'S SCRAP BAG LOUISA MAY ALCOTT PREFACE. As grandmothers rummage their piece-bags and bundles in search of gay odds and ends to make gifts with which to fill the little stockings that hang all in a row on Christmas Eve, so I have gathered together some stories, old and new, to amuse the large family that has so rapidly and beautifully grown up about me. I hope that when they promenade in night-caps and gowns to rifle the plump stockings, the little 'dears' will utter an 'Oh!' of pleasure, and give a prance of satisfaction, as they pull out this small gift from Aunt Jo's Scrap-Bag. CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS, 1871-72. MY BOYS. Feeling that I have been unusually fortunate in my knowledge of a choice and pleasing variety of this least appreciated portion of the human race, I have a fancy to record some of my experiences, hoping that it may awaken an interest in other minds, and cause other people to cultivate the delightful, but too often neglected boys, who now run to waste, so to speak. I have often wondered what they thought of the peculiar treatment they receive, even at the hands of their nearest friends. While they are[Pg 2] rosy, roly-poly little fellows they are petted and praised, adorned and adored, till it is a miracle that they are not utterly ruined. But the moment they outgrow their babyhood their trials begin, and they are regarded as nuisances till they are twenty-one, when they are again received into favor. -

December 2014 Newsletter
DECEMBER 2014 Newsletter ------------------------------------------------------------------- Yesterday & Today Records P O Box 54 Miranda NSW 2228 phone: (02) 95311710 [email protected] www.yesterdayandtoday.com.au ------------------------------------------------------------------- Pretty late for a newsletter but it doesn’t matter. I have found that no one really buys from me for Christmas anyway; they buy for their self gratification and to be honest there is NO better reason. Secondly I was fortunate enough to go to the USA on a buying trip spending a bit of time in both Los Angeles and Music City, Nashville. The results as far as buys go are reflected in the newsletter. As far as quality goes there has never been a newsletter to rival this one. Don’t take my word though...check it out. In Nashville I was fortunate to see the Timejumpers and also (for the first time) the Grand Ol Opry which had commenced its winter Ryman Auditorium run. Highlight of the latter was Old Crow Medicine Show. They don’t really do anything new but have borrowed well and are just so entertaining. Vince Gill is now a full time member of the Timejumpers but they are equal opportunity employers, so to speak and Vince is an equal member. Ameripolitan Music Awards Country music, the Nashville mainstream variety, has departed so far from “country” music that some are starting to call “country music” as we know it (not as Nashville promotes it) something else. Well, the great man Dale Watson is anyway. For the past couple of years he has been promoting the Annual Ameripolitan Music Awards. -

If you are a fan of Stoney Edwards, one of the greatest country singers ever…no exception, or if you don’t know who Stoney Edwards is, but love Merle Haggard then you NEED this album. It contains 10 Stoney Edwards tracks, 9 of which are released for the first time. All the Stoney songs has him singing songs about other artists. The first, “The Night the Ernest Tubb Show Came to Town” reminds of that great Johnny Cash song, “The Night Hank Williams Came to Town” BUT that appeared many years after Stoney recorded his…how could it be. Stoney also sings: NOTE…there are 8 other great non Stoney tracks too. • The Carter Family • Cash • Roy Acuff, King of country Music • The Jimmie Rodgers Blues • Bob Wills, The Fiddlin’ Man • Hag sang Me a Song • Red Foley • Bill Monroe – Daddy Bluegrass • Hank & Lefty Raised My Country Soul (this was a hit of course) but the other 9 ONLY appear on this cd **Silver Meteor – A progressive Country Anthology This is the greatest country rock anthology ever.
