NFL KICKS OFF WITH NATIONAL TV THURSDAY NIGHT GAME; NFL TV 2004 THE NFL is the only sports league that televises all regular-season and postseason games on free, over-the-air network television. This year, the league will kick off its 85th season with a national television Thursday night game in a rematch of the 2003 AFC Championship Game when the Indianapolis Colts visit the Super Bowl champion New England Patriots on September 9 (ABC, 9:00 PM ET). Following is a guide to the “new look” for the NFL on television in 2004: • GREG GUMBEL will host CBS’ The NFL Today. Ditka will serve as an analyst on a variety of shows, including Monday Night Countdown, NFL Live, SportsCenter and Monday Quarterback. • SAL PAOLANTONIO will host ESPN’s EA Sports NFL Match-Up (formerly Edge NFL Match-Up). REPORT OF THE NCAA DIVISION I COUNCIL MARCH 24, 2021, VIDEOCONFERENCE In an effort to connect NCAA Division I Council items to the NCAA pillars of academics, fairness and well-being, items included in this report have an identifying pillar. There is an additional pillar, operational, that is used to denote items that relate to maintaining a stable and efficient Division I. KEY ITEMS. 1. Season-of-Competition Waiver for Conferences and Institutions That Cancel or Suspend Spring Sport Seasons. (Fairness/Well-Being/Operational) The Division I Council approved a waiver permitting conferences and institutions that cancel or suspend seasons in spring sports to self-apply a season-of-competition waiver for their spring sport student-athletes, provided the following criteria are met: a. The student-athlete uses a season of competition in a spring sport during the 2020- 21 academic year; b. The student-athlete does not compete in more than three contests/dates of competition or 30% (whichever number is greater) of the maximum permissible contests/dates of competition as set forth in NCAA Division I Bylaw 17 in the applicable sport; c. The student-athlete is eligible for intercollegiate competition when they compete during the 2020-21 academic year; and d. The student-athlete and the institution’s team end competition by the selection date for the NCAA championship in the applicable sport and do not compete in postseason competition during the 2021 spring. Student-athletes in conferences and institutions that have canceled or suspended spring seasons will not have an opportunity for a meaningful participation experience during the 2021 spring. -

Several more colleges and universities announced late Sunday or Monday that they would abandon in-person classes either temporarily or for the rest of the semester, while others imposed other sorts of restrictions on student activity. Among the latest developments: The University at Albany, part of the State University of New York system, announced [1] that it would go into "full pause" today. University officials said they had done surge testing late last week amid an increase in presumptive cases, and that about 3.3 percent of about 3,400 tests undertaken had come back positive. Albany officials said the institution would immediately move to fully remote learning for the rest of the fall term, and that while the campus would remain physically open, all campus gatherings and common seating would be eliminated, and all activities -- including athletics -- would be halted. "While we had hoped to finish the fall semester as we started, we were also prepared to move to fully remote learning, and the time has come," President Havidán Rodriguez said. -

The squads earned the distinction as a result of being the highest‐placing teams with at least a 3.00‐cumulative GPA at the most recent NCAA indoor and outdoor championship, respectively. In addition, the USTFCCCA announced 90 squads as All‐Academic teams for the track & field seasons. Indoor Track & Field Scholar Team of the Year – BYU The Cougars of BYU finished as the third‐place team at the 2011 NCAA Indoor Track &Field Championships, scoring 34 points with the help of three event titles. BYU has compiled a 3.22 cumulative team GPA through the spring 2011 semester. National Indoor Scholar‐Athlete of the Year Miles Batty won the mile and anchored the distance medley relay to a national title. Batty is one of ten Cougars that were named last week as All‐Academic individuals for the 2011 track & field seasons. Batty was joined on the list by teammates Alden Bahr, Colby Barber, Tanner Emrich, Trevor Heiner, Cade Lindahl, Nate Ogden, Jared Rohatinsky, and Rex Shields. -

Eight sites will host first- and second-round competition Friday, May 8, and Sunday, May 10, and four quarterfinal games will be played Saturday, May 16 or Sunday, May 17. These preliminary-round games will be played on the campuses of competing institutions. The winners of the four quarterfinal games will advance to the semifinals and final hosted by Saint Joseph’s University May 22 and 24 at PPL Park in Philadelphia. The semifinal games will be shown live on ESPN3 at 5 and 7:30 p.m. Eastern time, Friday, May 22. The championship game will air live on ESPNU at 8:30 p.m., Sunday, May 24. Tickets for the championship games at PPL Park can be purchased online at http://www.ncaa.com/tickets. INFORMATIONAL ITEMS OF THE NCAA DIVISION I COMPETITION OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE OCTOBER 5, 2020, VIDEOCONFERENCE Note: This document does not include items incorporated in the NCAA Division I Council report. INFORMATIONAL ITEMS. 1. Review of recent reports. The NCAA Division I Competition Oversight Committee approved reports from its June quarterly meeting and subsequent biweekly videoconferences through September 23. 2. Equity, diversity, inclusion (EDI) and the student-athlete voice. Staff updated the committee on initiatives the Championships Equity Action Team is undertaking that enhance opportunities to support equity, diversity and inclusion at NCAA championships. 3. Division I governance update. Staff updated the committee on the work being conducted by the NCAA Name, Image and Likeness Legislative Solutions Group, the NCAA Division I Championships Finance Review Working Group, and the NCAA Division I Working Group on Transfers, all three of which are finalizing legislative packages for the NCAA Division I Council to consider for the 2020-21 cycle. 4. Financial status report. The committee reviewed budget-to-actuals for championships through the 2019-20 fiscal year. 5. COVID-19 updates. a. Update from NCAA Chief Medical Officer. NCAA Chief Medical Officer Dr. Brian Hainline updated the committee on the recently released resocialization policies for basketball and additional efforts being taken to address participant health and safety and testing protocols in other sports. b. Governance meetings. Staff noted that governance meetings will be held virtually through August 2021, though there may be limited exceptions for championship selection meetings. 6. Playing Rules Oversight Panel reports. The committee reviewed reports from the panel's most recent meetings.
