Group Wins – 9 of the 12 winners had a least 1 previous win in a group race Sat 6 - Ascot, Newmarket and Redcar - ITV4 Current Season Form – All 12 winners had at least 3 runs that season, 9 of those winners had at least 4 runs that Fri 12 - Newmarket & York - ITV4 season, 11 of the 12 winners had at least 1 win that season, 8 of them had at least 2 wins that season Sat 13 - Newmarket (Day 2) and York (Day 2) - ITV Sat 20 - Ascot: British Champions Day - ITV Verdict Sat 27 - Cheltenham, Newbury and Doncaster - ITV4 Not the best of races for the fancied horses with just 4 favourites prevailing in 12 years so it is a good race to look for a bit of value, I have always been sweet on Derby second Dee Ex Bee who will be a revelation stepped up to this trip and NOVEMBER will likely be a regular in the Cup races next season if kept in training but the lack of a win this year puts me off for this race so my idea of the race winner and one that fits the profile is Aiden O’Brien’s Irish St Leger Trial Winner FLAG OF Sat 3 - Ascot & Wetherby - ITV4 HONOUR who hasn’t but a foot wrong since finishing down the field in France having won a Group 2 and a Group 3 at the Curragh since both at the St Leger distance.     WORLD’S TOP RACES OF 2017 DOMINATED BY CHAMPIONS SERIES CONTESTS Four QIPCO British Champions Series races were today named as being among the top ten run anywhere around the world last year with Cracksman, the emphatic winner of the QIPCO Champion Stakes on QIPCO British Champions Day at Ascot in October, rated the top horse in Europe. Thrillingly, Cracksman, rated the world’s third best racehorse courtesy of his seven-length demolition of the field in the QIPCO Champion Stakes on Britain’s richest raceday, remains in training in 2018 along with his stable companion Enable (rated 5th). Her 2017 Series’ triumphs included the King George VI & Queen Elizabeth (sponsored by QIPCO), the Investec Oaks and Darley Yorkshire Oaks, before landing the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe and there is the exciting prospect of the pair clashing in the 2018 QIPCO British Champions Series. The five-year-old, trained by David Simcock, carries the familiar maroon and gold silks of Qatar Racing and will represent them in the £1.1 million Queen Elizabeth II Stakes, sponsored by QIPCO. Lightning Spear was a fine third to Tepin in the Queen Anne Stakes on his last visit to the Berkshire course and on his latest start he was a fluent winner of the Group 2 Doom Bar Celebration Mile at Goodwood. “He’s in top form, flying, and we are hoping to see him run a huge race,” said David Redvers, racing and bloodstock manager for Qatar Racing. “I always felt he was a Group 1 horse, right from his two-year-olds days, and it’s been a case of getting there. He’s got there now and now we need to win one as I’m hoping he’s going to make a serious stallion prospect.” A total of 19 remain engaged in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes after Tuesday’s forfeit stage, including Belardo, winner of the Al Shaqab Lockinge earlier in the year, as well as Galileo Gold and Ribchester, who have already met three times this season. Galileo Gold, winner of the QIPCO 2000 Guineas and St James’s Palace Stakes, got the better of the argument on the first two occasions but Ribchester turned the tables when landing the Jacques Le Marois at Deauville last month.

John Gosden has assembled a power-packed squad that includes Roaring Lion, Cracksman, Stradivarius and Lah Ti Dar, although his Newmarket neighbour, Sir Michael Stoute, is responsible for the highest-rated entry in Crystal Ocean, the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes runner-up, who has an official rating of 128. A decision over which race the brilliant Roaring Lion contests will be decided early on Thursday. He has been left in the QIPCO-sponsored Queen Elizabeth II Stakes, over a mile, and QIPCO Champion Stakes, over two furlongs farther, and connections want to assess underfoot conditions before choosing which race to run him in.
