Greetings to you all !!

Very few have fully realized the wealth of sympathy, kindness and generosity hidden in the soul of a child. The effort of every educator should be to unlock that treasure and K.R.Mangalam is an excellent example where everyone strives indefatigably for this. This institution has been nurturing young minds of the town for the past so many years with the belief that “ The heart of education is the education of the heart”.

We are pleased to present to you this edition of NIRANTAR, the e-magazine of the school. Enjoy every moment you have because in life there aren’t rewinds, only flashbacks. For you, we have worked hard to bring up an exhilarating flashback of the events and achievements of the Primary, Middle and Senior wing. We have for you, the glimpses of various workshops, presentations, assemblies, inter-house competitions and orientation programmes held in the school.

K.R.M Centre for Professional Development of Educators conducted various workshops to enhance the skills and tools necessary for success to foster the talents of each individual teacher. Various professional development workshops held at KRMCPDE can help teachers to become better at planning their time and staying organized. Emotionally Safe Learning Environment

“There is nothing more precious to parents than a child and nothing more important to our future than the safety of all our children.” Psychologist Dr. Jitender Nagpal gave tips and techniques to effectively deal with children with Learning Disabilities and to make a strong and safe environment for them. LESSON PLANNING

A workshop was organized on Lesson Planning from 5 March to 8 March 2019, for the teachers of all the K.R. Mangalam branches. The workshop was conducted by Ms. Rupam Sah. A number of activities were shared by the resource person on introduction to the class, how to work with previous knowledge ,learning outcomes etc. of a student. JODOGYAN

A two day workshop on JodoGyan was conducted by Ms Sonal and Ms Samiksha at KRMCPDE on 5th and 6th March 2019. An insight was provided on Mathematical concepts like Fractions, Decimals, Four Operations, Shapes and Patterns, Rangometry etc through the medium of stories, demonstrations and hands on activity. JOLLY PHONICS

A“Jolly Phonics” workshop was conducted by Ms. Shweta Sharma at K.R Mangalam Global School, GK I branch on 18 and 19 March, 2019 The workshop spelled out the importance of Jolly Phonics a fun and child centered approach to teaching literacy through synthetic phonics. The teachers learnt the actions for each of the 42 letter sounds. Say ‘No’ To Strangers

A workshop was organized for Class IV – V students. The workshop gave the students an insight about safe and unsafe touches. They were all informed that if they ever feel unsafe or uncomfortable they should shout “NO” , “RUN AWAY” and “TELL TO SOMEONE”. In the end a video was shown to the students on “STRANGER DANGER”. It was an informative experience for all the students. REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATIONS Republic Day Activities The students participated in various competitions and activities to celebrate the Republic Day Quiz on Republic day An Inter house Tableau Quiz competition was conducted in two groups Sub-Junior Group –[Class II and Class III ] Junior Group – [Class IV and Class V] First position------Topaz House First position------Topaz House Second Position------Emerald House Second Position------Emerald House Republic Day Celebrations The 70th Republic Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm. To mark this august occasion, an enthralling presentation, -‘Atulya Bharat’ was organised on 25 January 2019 by the students of class V . Through the presentation, the students brought to fore the rich cultural heritage of India. Meritorious students were also awarded for their achievement in various fields. The patriotic fervour warmed up the cold winter morning as the school enthusiastically celebrated the glorious day.

To seek pious of the almighty, K.R.Mangalam World School, Vikaspuri organized ‘Hawan’ on Thursday, 14th February 2019, for the students of class X and XII who were gearing up for their board examination. Through the chanting of and offering to the consecrated fire, both the body and mind of students were re- energized , creating a revitalizing and rejuvenating effect before the handing over of the Admit Card. The Principal, teaching fraternity and students came together to perform the holy ritual. ARMY DAY

K.R.Mangalam World School celebrated the Army Day on 15 January 2019. The Chief Guest Colonel Rupan Basu Chaudhary ( Sena Medal) graced the occasion and planted a sapling to mark the occasion and also imparted information about NCC and the importance of drill during the camps. The cadets also shared their experience of being part of the NCC. SCOUTS & GUIDE CAMP A three days Scouts & Guide camp in collaboration with Hindustan Scouts & Guides for grade III to V was organised from 12.02.19 to 14.02.19 in the school premises

Students of class I to V participated in a GK quiz, which aimed at increasing their knowledge and awareness. Students participated with full vigor and enthusiasm and enjoyed the quiz session a lot. Social Studies Activity

Students of class II performed an activity on Social Studies wherein they had to draw flags of neighbouring countries of India. The students drew flags of different countries and also shared information about that country. Students of Grade III, with great enthusiasm and vigour participated in making Road Symbols activity. In this activity students were asked to prepare 5 flash cards of the most commonly used road signs and symbols and were also asked to demonstrate their cards in the class. Handwriting Activity

Handwriting is a gateway to one‟s personality To inculcate the importance of the same, the students of Class –I –V participated in a „Handwriting Activity‟. The students sincerely worked towards improving their handwriting. Thus, the weekly activity was successfully conducted in the school. Spring Activity

After the chilling winter season, Classes I -V welcomed the Spring season with a spring based activity. The teacher discussed with them about the weather and related things of Spring season. INTER K.R.M. SOCCER TOURNAMENT On 29th January 2019, K.R.Mangalam World School, Vikaspuri hosted its 3rdInter K.R.M Soccer Tournament. Five branches of K.R.M. World School fraternity participated on the first day.

Inter House Competition

Inter House Yoga Competition was held on 22nd Feb,2019 for class I Students. The performance and the commitment witnessed during the event were praise worthy and breathtaking. It was a great delight to see the participants perform various Asanas such as Chakrasana, Namaskar etc.

Inter House Flower Arrangement for Grades IV and V was held on 15th February, 2019. The students enthusiastically took part in the competition and their knowledge about the flowers used was incredible. An Inter house Robotics competition was held for class III students where they made Four Wheel cart with the help of mechanical tools. The result was as follows: FIRST – Ruby House SECOND – Topaz House Annual Presentation K.R.Mangalam World School, Vikaspuri hosted the Annual Presentation ‘UNITY IN DIVERSITY’ by the Preschool and Pre-Primary classes on 27th February 2019. Major General Rajesh Sahai and Director & Jury Member at Doordarshan Ms Shruti Puri were the Chief Guests for the event. The students of class I & II put forth the Annual Presentation - ‘The Lion King: The Tale of a Brave Heart’, on 16 March 2019. The chief guest Lt. Gen. J. S. SCIENCE BEHIND SUPERSTITIONS

On the occasion of National Science Day, a special assembly , ‘Science Behind Superstitions’, was held on 28 February 2019. Students presented some of the conventional beliefs prevalent in the society and the reason behind their existence. A TALK SHOW

Students of Class X B staged a general assembly on the topic “Gratitude is the best attitude” on 13 March 2019 in the school’s amphitheater. Women’s day

On 8th March 2019 , the students of class XII-B presented a special assembly on the topic Social Media and its Impact on the Society.

On the special occasion of Women’s Day the assembly ended with a rap sung by the rappers of class XII-B on women empowerment. Commerce Mélange

A panel discussion titled ‘Money Matters – Young India Change Makers Conclave’, based on the Interim Budget of the Year 2019 was organised on 28 March 2019. The Commerce students of class XII depicted a panel discussion amongst the members of the Ruling Party and the Opposition party. The occasion was graced by the presence of the guest of honor Dr. Bhavna Chadha, founder Of Adhyapann: The Skills Hub and a renowned clinical psychologist, and our honorable Principal, Ms. Priya Arora.

ORIENTATION PROGRAMME Class-1

An orientation programme for the parents of Class- I was organised on 26 March,2019. The aim was to familiarize the parents as ‘partners in progress’ with the curriculum, rules and regulations of the school, teaching methodologies and the co-scholastic activities. ORIENTATION PROGRAMME Class-IV

KRM, Vikas Puri organized an orientation programme for the parents of Class IV on 28 March, 2019. The aim was to acquaint the parents with the change in the system as their wards move up a grade. TOY COLLECTION DRIVE

K.R.Mangalam World School, Vikaspuri organised a ‘Toy Collection Drive’ in the month of February. Our little Mangalites contributed their old toys, games, soft toys etc. for the needy children. Primary students generously donated and imbibed the very crucial message ‘Sharing is Caring’.
