MH Shrews Folk Fest Beer Brochure 6-8-17_Layout 1 08/08/2017 22:13 Page 1 2017 Beer and Cider Brochure It's a great pleasure to return to Shrewsbury Folk Festival for our third year and a big thank you to Sandra for inviting us back again. Like many at the festival I will miss Alan this year following his recent passing but I'm pretty sure he'll be keeping an eye on things, wherever he is, to make sure we've still got his favourite malt whisky in stock! This year we have kept many of your favourite beers and ciders but have made some changes to give you some new variety. We will be offering 45 different cask ales across the weekend, a quarter of which are different from last year. After a small trial last year we are extending our craft keg range, available in the main bar. I am particularly pleased to have some beers available from the genius hand of Ken King of local Chapel Brewery, but be quick as stocks are limited on these. For lovers of more fizzy stuff, we are pleased to be working with Kingstone Press Cider, Warsteiner and Kaltenberg. Kingstone Press will once again be sponsoring The Folk Slam, the rousing finale to the festival on the Pengwern stage. Other new brewers include Purity, which is supporting the Village Stage this year, and we say a welcome return to The Shropshire Brewery after an absence last year. Also watch out for great wines, a new range of cocktails, Prosecco (obviously!) and loads of gin at our wine bar this year.

If you are a CAMRA member and live in the Dronfield area, do come along to our inaugural meeting at the Green Dragon at 7:30pm on Thursday 15th March to set up the new sub branch. A beer tasting social will follow at the Dronfield Arms. INSIDE BEER MATTERS THIS ISSUE... Our ‘Racking King’, Matt, tied the knot with Helen at Sheffield Town Hall and we wish them all the best. Head Brewer Iain had a useful and interesting visit to Europe in search of new ideas and we all bought flowers from Tesco (they were reduced by mid afternoon). As February draws to a close hopefully everyone was lucky enough to catch a taste of Bete Noir (ABV 5.5%) and Bohemian Rhapsody (ABV 4.7%). Bete Noir revisits annually and was particularly well received this year having received a small but effective tweak from wily Master Brewer Nigel.

2015 Beer and Cider Brochure Moongazing Hare Bars It's a great pleasure and privilege to be providing the bars for the 2015 festival. We very much hope you like what we do and enjoy all our great beers, ciders and other drinks. Some of you may recognise us from events such as Warwick and Bromyard Folk Festivals and we hope that our expertise will translate to a fantastic time for all. We are also fortunate to be joined by a number of experienced festival stalwarts from Shrewsbury CAMRA to assist behind the bar. We have concentrated on local ales and ciders. We have worked hard to gain an understanding of what has sold before so you get all your old favourites and more besides. Enville Ginger and GBBF Award winning Titanic Plum Porter for instance. It's our first year at Shrewsbury though, so please bear with us if we don't get everything spot on. If you have any feedback why not let us know by e-mail on [email protected] or phone or text on 07940 731137. We would love to hear from you, good or bad. With our partners Tanner's we will also be introducing a Wine and Prosecco bar to the festival, with freshly made cocktails to boot. Look out for our competition for Best Beer and Best Cider of the festival. Your chance to win some to take home! I very much look forward to meeting you. The Society publishes a Newsletter and a quarterly journal Brewery History, which first appeared in 1972.
