PAUL J BRADY Writer/Director/Producer PAUL BRADY Writer/Director/Producer A BIT ABOUT ME I come from a traditional design background, drawing and sketching. I got into this business with my first job working at Icon Productions. I was handed a script by producer Steve McEevety (Braveheart, The Passion of the Christ) and asked to come up with the look and feel of the picture. And that was my start. Ever since then I knew the film business is where I wanted spend my life working.

Everyone wants to write and direct but I knew this wasn’t going to happen right away, so I started work in the art department in film and TV. Here, I figured it was a good place to start in finding out how the cogs of the film machine worked. It also gave me a chance to work in an area that was second nature to me. I haven’t had any formal training in college so the film set became my college. Learning from people who’ve been in the business all their lives.

I’ve been very fortunate working on some of the greatest movies and TV shows, Penny Dreadful, Ripper Street, Calvary and Brookyln among others.

Janey Mary was my first successful film as a writer and director adaptating the script from the best loved short story. It was a big production working with some of the most experienced industry professionals. It went on to win 5 top awards, including the Hollywood Discovery Award at the Hollywood Film Festival.

Since then I’ve gone on to write and direct short films, documentaries and commericals, later writing feature films ‘Campus Caller’ and ‘Before I Wake’ for Odyssey Media. I figure the best way to build up a career is to write your way in. My focus is primarily on writing commissioned film and TV work while preparing my directorial feature film debut, WITNESS. Based on the true story of 57 Irish men, women and children who left Ireland in 1832 to help build the great Philadelphia Railway. Within 3 months of landing on US soil all 57 were dead. While working on the railway road some of the 57 contracted cholera and in order to steem the outbreak they where all brutallyDuffy's murdered, burnt Cutand buried in an unmarked grave. History forgot about them until the a file was found that revealed the railway company ordered their deaths. This is a trailer I wrote and directed as part of a pitch to Netflix for a mini series Duffy's Cut based on the dramatic events.

For every child that’s been good....is sure of a treat!

Teddybear’s Breakfast is a spec commerical I’ve written and directed for Kellogg’s. It tells the story about a young boy who makes breakfast for his teddybears. Quietly obvserved by his mother she returns later to a messy table of empty bowls and teddybears who’ve clearly eaten. Dismissing the situation the boy’s mother cleans up the mess. Unbeknownst to her one of the teddybears winks at her when she’s not looking.
