Jan 13, Sesana rated it liked it Shelves: comicssuperhumans. The first issue in this collection is basically silly fluff. Fun, Journey into Mystery Featuring Sif: Seeds of Destruction (Marvel Now) Volume 2 I doubt I would have been happier if the entire book had been like that. Instead, we get the Seeds of Destruction story. Confused, rushed probably because of the looming cancellation and entirely unsatisfying. It was good to see Beta Ray Bill, but he couldn't save the book. I'm not sure if the story was rushed or hurriedly cobbled together without direction or both, but it just didn't work as well as it could Underwhelming. I'm not sure if the story was rushed or hurriedly cobbled together without direction or both, but it just didn't work as well as it could have. Plotting aside, it isn't terribly written, so it wasn't a chore to read. Just not as good as it could have been with a better plot. Dec 29, Aaron rated it it was ok. I wanted to like this so much. When Kathryn Immonen is writing dialogue and character-driven drama, she fires on all cylinders. I love her dialogue and the interplay between heroes. She has a real knack for the Asgardian way of speaking that keeps the book feeling simultaneously Old World and modern. The first two issues of this collection are great, showcasing that talent and allowing us to live in Sif's world and just kind of enjoy being there. Then, the major story arc for this one kicks in, a I wanted to like this so much. Then, Journey into Mystery Featuring Sif: Seeds of Destruction (Marvel Now) Volume 2 major story arc for this one kicks in, and things get a little The plotting that follows abandons all of that great character stuff in favor of a dense, nigh-unfollowable plot about some crazy Asgardian garden that merges with Stark technology and goes to space and gets attacked by an I kept reading the synopses at the beginning of each issue on Marvel Unlimited just to try to figure out what the hell I was missing, but they offered no help. This thing is just an off-the-rails pile of nonsense, and I really don't even know how to describe what it was meant to be about. It's a real shame this book falls apart the way it does. I'm hoping Kathryn Immonen writes some more Marvel stuff that leans on characters more, rather than big crazy ideas, because she really nails that stuff. This one is a pretty big let down, though. May 15, Gavin rated it it was ok Shelves: comics. I should have stuck with my gut; after reading Vol. It's not better, but it's not worse really. More of the same, Sif is her own woman, she don't need no stinkin' man to help her. Or some shit like that. I didn't even know Gaea was Norse among the Gods Ship crashes onto Station, and o I should have stuck with my gut; after reading Vol. Ship crashes onto Station, and of course, who should be on it? Beta Ray Bill If you note my review for Vol. Then Gaea gets infested by Stark's technology and she becomes a monster Shit goes down. Something something something, and 2 days later, I forget.

Another scientist, ForDr. Erik Selvig, sat in the passenger seat. In the back of the van, Jane- opened the roof and climbed onto it. Selvig followed her, and they looked up into the darkness. “So what exactly are we looking for?” Selvig asked. He was a friend of Jane’s father and knew her well. “Why did you ask me to join you here in New Mexico?” “I told youSample. Something strange is happening in the night sky and I need your help,” Jane replied. “It’s a little dierent each time. Once it was a pool of stars in a corner of the sky. But last week it was a rainbow—” A noise from her computer stopped her. “Wait for it!” she said excitedly. Nothing happened. The sky above them stayed calm and black. Darcy put her head out of the window and looked up at Jane. “Can I turn on the radio?” she asked. She sounded bored. “No!” Jane replied angrily. She and Selvig climbed back inside the van. “I don’t understand,” she said. She opened a small book and looked at her notes. She always carried this notebook—inside it was her life’s work. ✩ A traditional story Many myths, legends, and traditional stories from around the world are about such things as fire, water, rain, wind, or thunder and lightning. Sometimes these things take the form of giants, gods, or spirits that can harm or help humans. Carefully read the following facts about Norse gods. Thor and Sif What Thor was like Thor was an exaggerated, colorful character. He was huge, even for a god, and incredibly strong. He had wild hair and beard and a temper to match. He was never angry for long, though, and easily forgave people. Thor raced across the sky in his chariot drawn by two giant goats, Toothgnasher and Toothgrinder. It was their hooves that people heard when it thundered on Earth. He controlled the thunder and lightning and brewed up storms by blowing through his beard. Sailors prayed to him for protection from bad weather. Thor’s magic weapons Thor had a belt which doubled his strength when he buckled it on and iron gauntlets which allowed him to grasp any weapon. The most famous of Thor’s weapons was his hammer, Mjollnir. It always hit its target and returned to Thor’s hands after use. When a thunderbolt struck Earth, people said that Thor had flung down his hammer. Mjollnir did not only do harm, though. It also had protective powers and people wore small copies of it as jewellery to keep them safe and bring good luck. Sif Thor was married to Sif, who was famous for her pure gold, flowing hair. She was a goddess of fruitfulness and plenty.

  • Since I Began Reading the Work of Steve Ditko I Wanted to Have a Checklist So I Could Catalogue the Books I Had Read but Most Im
Since I began reading the work of Steve Ditko I wanted to have a checklist so I could catalogue the books I had read but most importantly see what other original works by the illustrator I can find and enjoy. With the help of Brian Franczak’s vast Steve Ditko compendium, Ditko-fever.com, I compiled the following check-list that could be shared, printed, built-on and probably corrected so that the fan’s, whom his work means the most, can have a simple quick reference where they can quickly build their reading list and knowledge of the artist. It has deliberately been simplified with no cover art and information to the contents of the issue. It was my intension with this check-list to be used in accompaniment with ditko-fever.com so more information on each publication can be sought when needed or if you get curious! The checklist only contains the issues where original art is first seen and printed. No reprints, no messing about. All issues in the check-list are original and contain original Steve Ditko illustrations! Although Steve Ditko did many interviews and responded in letters to many fanzines these were not included because the checklist is on the art (or illustration) of Steve Ditko not his responses to it. I hope you get some use out of this check-list! If you think I have missed anything out, made an error, or should consider adding something visit then email me at ditkocultist.com One more thing… share this, and spread the art of Steve Ditko! Regards, R.S.

The Positive Action Hawai‘i trial included 20 racially/ethnically di- verse schools (M enrollment = 544) and was conducted from the 2002–03 through the 2005–06 academic years. Using school-level archival data, analyses comparing change from baseline (2002) to 1-year posttrial (2007) revealed that intervention schools scored 9.8% better on the TerraNova (2nd ed.) test for reading and 8.8% on math, that 20.7% better in Hawai‘i Content and Performance Standards scores for reading and 51.4% better in math, and that intervention schools reported 15.2% lower absenteeism and fewer suspensions (72.6%) and retentions (72.7%).
