Congratulations to all pupils of Clyst Hydon for their efforts and achievements so far this term, of which there have been many! It has been an energetic start to the Summer term with the children engaging within a breadth of cross curricular learning opportunities provided by the teaching team. Just this week, the Year 6 Pupils took part in a series of off-site sporting pursuits where they demonstrated both their budding athletic and Kwik Cricket skills, competing extremely well together as a team. Thank you so much for the parental transport which was provided across these different events. Meanwhile, Class 1 have enjoyed their visit from a number of creepy crawlies as part of their 'Plants and insects' topic and have used this as Mr Westwood a stimulus for their writing. We are really looking forward to a range of whole school community events that are scheduled in for after half term which will include both our open morning and sports day. Head of School These have been outlined within the key dates section at the end of this newsletter. We hope you have a lovely relaxing break with the children.

School Association Clyst Hydon Huff Thank you to everyone who provided cakes/fruit, ran or helped out last Sunday. We had perfect weather and a great turnout (140 finishers for the 10k and 60+ runners for the 2k). There was a fantastic community atmosphere at the Village Hall and some lovely feedback from the runners.

We are delighted that Clyst Hydon retained the shield for the Best Primary School for the fourth year running ahead of and . Well done to all the children who took part in the 2k, and, in particular, to Polly, Lily, Brett, Alfie and Samuel who came first in their sex/age category.

Of course, none of this would have been possible without the hard work of the Huff organising team, ably led by Jane Murray. The School Association would like to say a big thank you to them for ensuring the event was both enjoyable and safe and to the Huff sponsors Guardian Security, Oxygen House, Pollington Decorators Ltd, Bloomberry, IN8 and Quality Solicitors Dunn & Baker. We hope to let you know in the next newsletter how much was raised for the School Association and other three Village charities, but we are expecting the grand total to be “very healthy”.

School Tidy Up - Friday 7 June (4.00 – 7.00pm) and Saturday 8 June (10.00 – 12 noon) Mrs Stevens is drawing up a list of cleaning/gardening/DIY jobs that currently need doing around the School. If every family is able to spare some time, even if it’s only an hour, it will make a huge difference to the appearance of our School. If you cannot join us during these sessions, but you’d like to help out, the jobs can be undertaken at a time to suit you. Please liaise with Mrs Stevens.

CHSA 2nd Summer Term Meeting – Monday 10 June, 7.00pm We will be meeting again after half term to consider several funding requests following consultation with the School’s new leadership team. We will also be discussing the possibility of a CHSA Family Outing and arrangements for an End of Summer Term Family Celebration. We hope to see as many families as possible represented at the meeting.
