Saves: Tyler Burgoon (13) Romero is Rolling: Stefen Romero saw his career-best 13-game hitting streak snapped on 8/9 , but is 6-for-22 with hits in five of six games since. Romero hit .333 (17-for-51) with three doubles, a triple, four HR and 12 RBI on the streak, the longest by a LumberKing this season. He has a hit in 29 of his last 33 games and is batting .312 (63-for-204) since May including 12 HR and 39 RBI in 53 games . He leads the team in average (.271), HR (15), RBI (53) and OPS (.795). Ace Status: LHP Anthony Fernandez pitched a career-high 9.0 innings and tied a career-high with nine strikeouts Saturday night, limiting Peoria to a run on five hits as he earned his fifth win. The outing was his team-leading ninth quality start, all coming in his last 11 outings following a seven-game stint at high-A High Desert (1-1, 7.39). Fernandez is 4-1 with a 1.96 ERA (17 ER in 78.0 IP) in that 11-game span, lowering his ERA from 4.17 to 2.84…his ERA is seventh-lowest in the MWL. Bullpen Briefs: RHP Tyler Burgoon suffered his sixth blown save last night, ending a string of 4.2 scoreless innings…he still leads the ‘pen in ERA (2.47), wins (5), saves (13) and WHIP (1.21). LHP Ryan Kiel earned his first save with Clinton on Monday night, tossing 2.0 scoreless IP with two strikeouts…he’s on a scoreless streak of 7.0 innings spanning three outings.
