A B S T R A C T Diagnosis of the BVDV infection among suspected and apparently healthy cattle at Kaluobia, Giza, Menofeia and Gharbia governorates was done by detection of prevalence of BVD antibodies. A total number of 151/151(100%) and 97/151 (62.25%) of examined sera were positive for BVD antibodies using serum neutralization test (SNT) and competitive immunoenzymatic assay (cIEA), respectively. Examined sera with cIEA detected antibodies against BVDV non structral proteins P80/P125. Detection of BVDV in buffy coat samples using antigen capture ELISA showed that 22/151(14.56%) of the samples were positive for BVDV. Isolation and biotyping of suspected BVDV from buffy coat on MDBK cell line showed that 19/22 of ELISA positive buffy coat samples were cytopathogenic BVDV biotype (cpBVDV) while only 3/22 samples were CPE negative suggesting a non- cytopathogenic BVDV (ncpBVDV) biotype. Inoculated cell culture with no CPE were subjected to IFAT and IPMA using specific antisera against BVDV revealed positive results indicating presence of non-cytopathogenic strain of BVDV. It was concluded that cIEA detected antibodies against non- structural proteins P80/P125 has many advantages over SNT being for rapid diagnosis of BVDV. -

Despite the actual desertification in Wadi El-Natrun Depression nitrated by tourism and overuse by nomads, 142 species were recorded. Sixty-one species were considered as new additions, unrecorded before in four main habitats: (1) croplands (irrigated field plots); (2) orchards; (3) wastelands (moist land and abandoned salinized field plots); and (4) lakes (salinized water bodies). The floristic analysis suggested a close floristic relationship between Wadi El-Natrun and other oases or depressions of the Western Desert of Egypt. It is one in a series of planned studies aiming to catalogue the whole order in both countries. New information Twenty species, belonging to seven genera and three subfamilies (Pachygastrinae, Stratiomyinae and Nemotelinae), are treated. One of these genera, Oplodontha and two species, Oplodontha pulchriceps Loew and Oxycera turcica Üstüner & Hasbenli, are recorded herein for the first time from Saudi Arabia. A lectotype for Nemotelus matrouhensis Mohammad et al., 2009 is designated. Kotb2 1Cairo University, Faculty of Agriculture, Soil Sciences Department2, Soils, Water and Environment Research Institute - Giza [email protected] Abstract: The studied area is located between longitudes 30° 06¢ 21".37 to 30° 28¢ 50".02 East and latitudes 30° 18¢ 02".88 to 30° 31¢ 06''.66 North and covers about 142,687 fed. A physiographic analysis using visual interpretation on Spot 4 of false colour composite of bands 3,2,1 scale 1:50000 was carried out to delineate the different physiographic units of the studied area. Physiographic units were accurate defined by the Digital Elevation Model of Wadi El-Natrun area. Thirty four soil profiles and seventy minipits were examined to represent the soils of the studied area. The physiographic units were incorporated with soil taxonomic units of sub great group level and field data to represent physiographic soil map of the studied area. The soils of the studied area are slightly to extremely saline (EC values range from 1.0 to 71.9 dS/m). Soil texture is mostly sandy to sandy clay loam. Soil pH values range from 7.2 to 8.0. Organic matter content is very low with a maximum value of 0.3%. The soils are classified as Typic Haplocalcids, Vertic Aquisalids, Lithic Aquisalids, Lithic Torriorthents, Typic Torripsamment and Typic Torriorthents. -

In Nursing 2009 (2) Professor of Nursing Administration, Faculty of nursing, Menoufia University (3) Assist prof. of Nursing Administration, Faculty of Nursing, Benha University Abstract Background: Job analysis of head nurses, role is vital to critically review the existing nursing practices within the unit and maintain continuity of all operation in changing work environment. The study aimed to identify job analysis of head nurse role at Benha and Menoufia University Hospitals. Comparative design was utilized to conduct this study. Setting: The current study was conducted in all inpatient units at Benha and Menoufia University Hospitals. Subjects: Included all head nurses, working at the above mentioned study setting and disturbed as 58 head nurses at Benha University Hospital, and 52 head nurses at Menoufia University Hospital. Tools for data collection: Head nurses job analysis questionnaire. Results: Showed that the majority of the studied head nurses, at Menoufia and Benha University Hospital reported a high committed level (86.6% & 84.5%) regarding their job description and reported higher qualified level (90.4% & 89.7%)) regarding their job specification respectively. Moreover, the majority of studied head nurses, at Benha University Hospital reported higher achieved level (87.9%) regarding their job evaluation as compared to Menoufia University Hospital (84.6%). The study concluded that, the majority of studied head nurses at both hospitals reported a high level of job analysis however the head nurses at Menoufia University Hospital reported higher level of job analysis as compared to head nurses at Benha University Hospital with a highly statistical significant positive correlation between total job analysis and total of job description, job specification and job evaluation among studied head nurses at both hospitals. -

[email protected] Abstract: Surface water and groundwater in the northwestern part of the Nile Delta is of vital importance for domestic, agricultural, and industrial water supply. The increases in population together with the agricultural and industrial development have resulted in increasing pollution of water resources. The main objective of the present study is to assess the environmental impact on the quality of water resources in the study area. To achieve that, surface water and groundwater samples have been analyzed for major ions, nitrates, and trace elements, in addition to detection of total and fecal coli-form bacteria. The distribution maps for different pollutants in groundwater are carefully studied. Results indicate that both surface water and groundwater in the study area are suffering from quality problems. The majority of the studied area are characterized by fresh water (TDS <1000 ppm) with low contents of Na, Cl, and SO4 and the groundwater is suitable for drinking. High contents are recoded mostly at the northwestern portions as local polluted zones distributed within the area. This is referred to extensive withdrawing in the newly reclaimed areas in the northwestern portions and to the existence of local pollution sources resulted from the infiltration of domestic, agricultural and industrial wastes in the intensive populated area. -
