The study shows that the use of small geographical scale helped to identify similar zones and neighbourhoods that have the same housing values and socio-economic chara cter is tics. T his is unli ke some o f t he previous studies that combined wi der areas together an d so fai led t o identif y spa ti al submarkets. Four different geographical scales were examined to deter min e the leve l of disaggr egation of data, and the highest level of disagg regative data occu rs where cities a re div ide d in to smal l areas by zones. This study utilized both secondary and primary sources of data. The study is based on data collected from sixteen Local Government Areas consisting of 53 residential zones in metropolitan Lagos. Out of the total number of 135,820 properties, a size of about 1% (1,500) was randomly selected. The hypothesis was tested using a combination of analysis of variance, multiple regression model, expansion method and the non hierarchical technique of grouping. The variations in house values by zones are more d ist inct tha n house va lues for communities and local governments that bear the same name. The group in g o f the zo nes wi th similar house values also helps to identify housing submarkets that e xist in the study are a. To achieve this, multi-temporal land use and land cover (LULC) datasets derived from the GlobeLand30 product of years 2000 and 2010 for urban and rural areas of Lagos State were imported into ArcMap 10.6 and converted to raster files (raster thematic maps) for spatial analysis in the FRAGSTATS situated in the Patch Analyst. Thus, different landscape metrics were computed to generate statistical results. The results have shown that fragmentation of cultivated lands increased in the rural areas but decreased in the urban areas. Also, the findings display that land-use change resulted in incremental fragmentation of forest in the urban areas, and reduction in the rural areas. The fragmentation measure of diversity increased in the urban areas, while it decreased in the rural areas during the period of study. These results suggest that cultivated land fragmentation is a complex process connected with socio-economic trends at regional and local levels. In addition, this study has shown that landscape metrics can be used to understand the spatial pattern of LULC change in an urban-rural context.

Whereas workers in the informal sectors constitute over 80% of non-agricultural employment, 60% of the urban employment and over 90% of new jobs in Nigeria, they are often subjected to arbitrary and excessive taxation, downright extortion, arbitrary arrests and imprisonment while their basic needs for social security is ignored. Informal workers constitute the bulk of the poor and marginalized people in Nigeria. FIWON was inaugurated June 18, 2010 in Abuja in the course of its 1st National Conference in Abuja with over 34 self - employed workers’ organizations in attendance. Today, there are over 120 organizations from 15 states of the Nigerian federation. FIWON’s overall goal is to transform the working and living conditions of informal workers to an acceptable standard that guarantees their basic human rights as citizens and workers. FIWON builds leadership capacities of informal workers for resisting rights violation and for representation in decision making public institutions.     Lagos Atlantic Conference ADEJOKE O. OYEWUNMI, AND JACOB E. UMORU Adejoke O. Oyewunmi is professor of law, University of Lagos, and legal adviser, Lagos Atlantic. Jacob E. Umoru, Ph.D., is president of Lagos Atlantic Conference. The Lagos Atlantic Conference is of great historical importance to the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Nigeria. This is due to many reasons: its strategic geographical territory, which encompasses, among others, the Apapa Seaport and its environs. It was at this port that the ship that conveyed the first Adventist missionary to Nigeria, David Cladwell Babcock and his fellow pioneers (R. P. Dauphin and S. Morgue), berthed in March 1914.1 To all intents and purposes, therefore, Lagos Atlantic Conference has the distinction of being the territory where the Adventist missionaries first landed on arrival in Nigeria. It was from there that they made their way into the hinterland to commence their evangelistic mission before later returning to Lagos to spread the Advent message.2 Territory The Lagos Atlantic Conference field stretches across twelve out of the twenty local government areas of Lagos Atlantic Conference headquarters, Lagos, Lagos State, Lagos State, while also extending to Ado-Ota Local Nigeria. The church has a presence in virtually all the local government areas covered by the conference by virtue of the various established churches and companies, as well as diverse other means through which the conference has strategically raised awareness of the Advent message among different groups, including the vulnerable and disempowered.
