The report was noted. 1394.6 To receive correspondence 1394.6.1 Decision Notice Schedule Cllr Mrs Ellenbroek stated that, despite the access granted under PA20/01119 not being permitted until Highways mitigation had been put in place, it was already in use. The issue had now been escalated at Cornwall Council. The schedule was noted. 1394.6.2 Licensed Premises Schedule Concerns were expressed at the lack of information available, in particular in relation to the extent of the permission which would be granted by the licence. It was agreed that in future the Clerk would request sight of the full application whenever it was made by a premises sited on Fore Street. 1394.6.2.1 RESOLVED by Majority not to support the application on the grounds of: (i) lack of information, in particular in relation to the limits of any permission which would be granted and (ii) concerns over the principle of an increase in the number of premises on Fore Street selling alcohol, given the existing issue of street drinking in the town centre [Proposed Cllr Mrs Ellenbroek; Seconded Cllr Ms Reeve] Cllr Biscoe abstained. 1394.6.3 Cormac – B3297 Redruth to Helston Consultation The correspondence was noted. 1394.6.4 G R Development Services Ltd – Naming of New Development The correspondence was noted. 1394.6.5 Andrew Clare – Redruth Drump Road and Gew Terrace, Traffic Management Issues Cllr Ellenbroek stated that, since the proposals related to her Electoral Division, she had spoken to the local resident and advised that she would put them to the CPIR Community Network to see if support would be offered.     English Chess Federation The Official Chess Yearbook 2010 Foreword I played chess actively for a decade, racking up hundreds of games every year. Although my fanatical playing days are behind me, the welfare of chess, both in England and internationally, is still an overriding passion for me. After my election in 2009, I was determined to use the ECF Presidency as a force for good throughout the chess community. My predecessor Gerry Walsh made enormous advances in promoting the English game and its players all over the world and I hope to be able to continue this work. However, it is no secret that the domestic situation has deteriorated recently and this will be the focus of my attention. England is still a significant chess power and I believe the casual attitude of merely 'punching above our weight' is no longer relevant. The stunning successes of the Staunton Memorial and the London Chess Classic proved the country is capable of staging magnificent world class events and it is essential we build on this in the coming years. We have an amazing array of wonderfully talented players, at every level of the game, and their passion and enthusiasm can only be inspiring for those that work to enhance the situation for chess. I cannot promise miracles but I will promise to listen to any individual, club, league or tournament that has anything to say. I am travelling extensively to meet people, within the chess community, government and business, to establish relationships which can be used in order to further the ambitions of the ECF and its members.

    The Great Flat Lode Walk starting at King Edward Mine The Great Flat Lode Trail is a 7.5-mile circular walk that takes you through breathtaking countryside and past some of Cornwall’s most famous, historic mines. The Croust Hut café is in the old assay house for South Condurrow mine (later renamed King Edward in honour of the new King in 1901). There is a free car park and bike racks. The notes below are from Graham Sowell, a Trustee of King Edward Mine. The Great Flat Lode Trail – Circular Walk from “The Croust Hut Café” King Edward Mine – The Croust Hut – ex Assay Building for South Condurrow Mine. Clockwise – turn right at the Stamps Engine House and head up the bridleway to Higher Condurrow. When you reach the road the large Engine House building to your right is the pumping house for the Great Condurrow Mine (Woolf’s shaft, renamed Neam’s Shaft after the chairman of Condurrow Mines Ltd., shortly after it reopened in 1906/07), 320 fathoms deep from surface – 80” Cornish Pumping Engine built by Harvey’s of Hayle, which came third-hand from Garland’s shaft at Gwenap United Mines. The engine had originally been built for Batter’s shaft of West Chiverton Mine. Closed again in 1914. Turn left along the road for a short distance then cross over and take the road off to the right. Follow this for a little way until you come to a Carn Entral road sign and follow the bridleway up to the right. Across to your right on the horizon you will see Carn Brea Hill with its monument and Four Lanes TV mast.

    The Cornwall Council Section 14(1) of the of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (RTRA 1984) (Temporary Prohibition of Through Traffic) (Various Streets Cornwall) (No.9) Order 2016 Notice is hereby given that Cornwall Council has made the above Order dated the 9th May 2016 prohibiting the use by through traffic during surface dressing works from the 16 th May 2016 for a maximum of 18 months with the expectation that the works are anticipated to finish on the 30th September 2016 It is anticipated that all roads will be closed for a maximum of 7 days within the road closure notice period; the closure may be on consecutive days or on separate days depending upon site, weather conditions and works required.     PEREGRINATION IN CORNWALL 1983 21ST May 83. With John Gaskins, Tom Charman and John Willock we left Leamington at 08.00 heading for Cornwall, but soon ran into rain. We travelled via Evesham, Ashchurch and the M5, making a stop at the Michael Wood service station. Here John G. soon found a subject for his camera, this being a Birmingham Corporation double decker. We then motored through heavy showers without a stop to Sticklepath arriving about 12.00. It was thought time to take lunch but after much searching, one member failed to find his, so a little sharing took place. We then visited Finches Foundry, originally maker of agricultural hand tools. Three waterwheels powered these workshops; one drove a grindstone, one a tilt hammer and one a blower for the hearths. To the rear of this foundry is a Quaker burial ground. All Uncle Tom Cobley’s six friends named in Widecombe Fair hailed from Sticklepath. Our next stop was at Meldon Reservoir where the water was flowing over the dam sill and cascading down the spillway. In the distance was a disused railway viaduct that crossed the River Okement. We then spent sometime in searching for accommodation, finally settling in at Mrs. Chivers, 3 Clinton Road, Redruth. In the evening we called at the railway station and photographed an‘up’ train as it crossed a high viaduct just outside the station. Just to the rear of station is an unused ivy mantled chimney which tapers in stepped rings. It looked a little like an upturned 1 telescope, it is said that originally it was 140’ high.

Retained in Council Ownership and The Council, with consideration of risk profiles and financial impacts, retains the freehold and primary Management management responsibilities for an asset due to its significant strategic function, commercial opportunities (current and potential income) or strategic importance. 2. Retained in Council Ownership but The Council retains ownership of a site due to the strategic function, commercial opportunities, managed by others regional/ national importance. The management of the site is transferred to a third party (this could be a commercial partner, third sector or other) through a lease or management agreement. This will also include assets which are leased out commercially and require the tenant to repair and maintain the asset and provide the Council with a rent from the tenancy. 3.
