SYNOPSIS Set in the 1950s, Cry-Baby focuses on Allison Vernon-Williams, the most beautiful Square girl in all of Baltimore and her love for the gang leader of the Drapes – Wade ‘Cry-Baby’ Walker.

Witty and eccentric, the audience will follow Allison and her struggle between the good- natured, conservative, Squares and the delinquent, rowdy Drapes. From the country club, to prison, Cry-Baby will be a wild ride of laughter, frights, and emotion. Act 1

Merryn grew up dancing in Tasmania and has danced with the Tasmanian Ballet Company in their 2010 production of The Nutcracker. She was a cast member in the 2016 WARTS production of RENT.

Music Director Andrew Hey

Andrew has been involved in productions of My Fair Lady, Oliver!, Mary Poppins, and Rent. He is currently studying a Bachelor of Music at the University of and is looking forward to applying his knowledge to this production.

Director Helen He

An aspiring animator studying at VCA, Helen could only hope that her experience of watching Les Miserables on Broadway that one time would carry her through this production. She’d like to thank everyone who was a part of realising her vision for the show - directing this show has been a pleasure and a whole new learning experience for Helen, and she hopes you enjoy the show as much as she enjoyed directing it. Jonathan is currently a student at the Victorian College of the Arts studying a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Production) majoring in performance technology. Jonathan has designed and operated lighting from numerous shows both in and the ACT, he recently attended the World Stage Conference in Taiwan.

Stage Manager / Video Designer / Sound Operator Sidney Millar

Sidney is a student at the Victorian College of the Arts studying a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Production). While she’s really an audio designer, she has enjoyed this opportunity to stage manage Cry Baby and was nominated for the Union House Theatre Stage Manager Award in 2016. #keensid

Treasurer Riley Childs

When Riley ran for student club treasurer he didn’t actually know that meant being treasurer for the musical as well. Knowing next to nothing about musicals, his leadership style was more definitely more “laissez-faire”, but nonetheless, he has learnt a lot, had great fun and he hopes you enjoy this production that the cast and crew have worked tirelessly on. Sherry currently studies Musical Theatre Foundation at the Victori- an College of the Arts. She has been a number of productions including ‘Bungalow Song’, ‘Rent’, ‘Aladdin’, ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dream Coat’, ‘Oliver’, ‘A Flea in Her Ear’, and ‘Guys and Dolls’.

Bronty Gosper As Mrs Vernon Williams

Bronte is studying a Bachelor of Arts and played Frenchy in ‘Grease’. Bron- te also studied Musical Theatre for her NSW Higher School Certificate and performed in Whitley College’s pro- duction of ‘Rent’.

James Lugton As Baldwin Blandish (Executive Arts Representitive)

James is currently studying a Bachelor of Science, with a major in Statistics. He has had lead roles in ‘Fame’, ‘Little Shop of Horrors’, and ‘Rent’, as well as supporting roles in ‘Guys and Dolls’, ‘High School Musical’, ‘West Side Story’, and the ‘Wedding Singer’. Andrew Moshova As Whiffle #1

Andrew is currently on exchange from Colombia University in the United States where he studies Mechanical Engineering. His role as Whiffle #1 is his debut role in Musical Theatre. Ben Goss As Wade Walker A.k.A. Cry Baby

Ben is an actor currently studying at the Victorian College of the Arts. He has performed as Tony in ‘West Side Story’, Curly in ‘Oklahoma!’, and Harold Hill in ‘The Music Man’. He has also performed in the ensemble in ‘Dusty: the Original Pop Diva’, and ‘Mary Poppins’.

Billy Stafford As Dupree W. Dupree

Billy performed as Angel in Whitley College’s production of ‘Rent’ and is currently studying Politics and Sociology in the Bachelor of Arts at the .

Lydia Bell As Lenora Frigid (Assistant Director)

Lydia is a Linguistics major at the University of Melbourne. Lydia performed as the Granny in ‘Into the Woods’ and has performed in two of Whitley College’s musicals, both ‘Rent’ and ‘Bonnie and Clyde’.

Rose-Monet Wilson Scott Mona Malnorowski/Hatchetface (Head of Hair and Make Up)

Rose is currently studying Criminology, Politics, and International Studies at the University of Melbourne. She has performed in two musicals, as Rizzo in ‘Grease’ and in ‘Rent’. Danny Win As Whiffle #2

Danny held a lead role in ‘Our House’ and is currently studying a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Psychology at the University of Melbourne.

Ethan Savage As Whiffle #3 (Publicity)

Ethan is debuting in Musical Theatre in his role as Whiffle #3. He is currently studying a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Melbourne, specialising in Politics, International Studies, and Development Studies. Belinda Weiss As Pepper Walker

Belinda is currently studying Contemporary Music Composition at the Victorian College of the Arts. She has amassed a total of five roles, including two in Whitley College’s productions of ‘Rent’ and ‘Bonnie and Clyde’.
