For the victims of abuse at the hands of some members of the clergy, may they find healing, support, and peace within the Catholic community, we pray to the Lord. 2. For the families of abuse victims, that their compassionate concern may affect healing and that their strong advocacy may bring about change within the Church and society, we pray to the Lord. 3. Notes for the Guidance of Rep DLs re Borough Observance of Mourning Following the Death of a Member of the Royal Family [not including the Sovereign] The forms of Mourning are: NATIONAL MOURNING ROYAL MOURNING Following the death of a Member of The Royal Family, the Lord Chamberlain or the Earl Marshal will consult with the Prime Minister before seeking The Sovereign’s Commands with regard to mourning. No action should be taken until there is a formal announcement of the death (that is, when the media reports that Buckingham Palace or Downing Street has announced the death, not when they indicate that “reports are coming in of the death of …..”). National Mourning Observed by all, including national representatives serving abroad. Flags lowered from the day of death to the day of Funeral. Business/Sporting activities considered by Prime Minister’s Office. Royal Mourning Observed by Members of the Royal Family, Households of the Royal Family and Troops on Public Duties. Flags Flags should be flown at half-mast on the day the death is announced (or immediately following) and day of Funeral. Flags also lowered on any other occasions where Her Majesty has given special command. Half-mast means the flag is flown two-thirds of the way up the flagpole with at least the height of the flag between the top of the flag and the top of the flagpole. On flag poles that are more than 45o from the vertical, flags cannot be flown at half-mast and the pole should be left empty. When a flag is to be flown at half-mast it should first be raised all the way to the top of the mast, allowed to remain there for a second and then lowered to the half-mast position.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to Her Majesty the Queen on the news of the death of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. Since the day of her coronation in 1953, when he knelt before her and was the first to swear allegiance, that he would be her “liege man of life and limb”, he has been a shining example of devotion and companionship. In Prince Philip, we witnessed the gift of grace expressed in love and duty, which has provided not only Queen Elizabeth, but also the nation, with strength and stability. We give thanks for his life and his unstinting service. 114 Auckland University Law Review Vol 21 (2015) Piercing the Corporate Veil: An Analysis of Lord Sumption's Attempt to Avail a Troubled Doctrine NUPUR UPADHYAY* The principle that a company is a separate legal person is fundamental to modern company law. Over time, case law has emerged supporting the doctrine of "piercing the corporateveil ", enabling courts to look behind a company's separate legal personality to impose the company's liabilities on its controllers or vice versa. The doctrine, however, has been applied inconsistently and incoherently. In 2013, the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom in Prest v Petrodel Resources Ltd confirmed the existence of the doctrine and attempted to clarify it. In doing so, the leading judgment of Lord Sumption proposeda novel formulation to determine the circumstances in which a court can pierce the corporate veil. Lord Sumption's formulation creates its own confusion and uncertainty. This article argues that the Supreme Court should have abandoned the doctrine altogether. Alternative legal remedies available to claimants render the doctrine redundant. Moreover, Prest exacerbates the doctrine's lack of clarity. This, in turn, compromises the certainty afforded to commercial actors by virtue of incorporatinga company. I INTRODUCTION The limited liability corporation is the greatest single discovery of modern times... Even steam and electricity are far less important than the limited liability corporation. The strength of the limited liability company lies in the fact that commercial actors can be certain that, if a dispute arises, the company's separate legal personality will be recognised. The House of Lords articulated this principle in the seminal case of Salomon v A Salomon and Co Ltd.2 In New Zealand, the principle has been codified in s 15 of the Companies Act 1993.

THE ORDER OF THE MASS The first part of the Mass is about getting to know everyone and welcoming everyone to God’s house. It’s called the INTRODUCTORY RITES. (Stand) Entrance Song—We sing to celebrate that we are gathered together with Jesus Christ and one another. Greeting—We make the sign of the cross as the Priest says: “In the name of the Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit.” We respond: Amen. The Priest welcomes everyone with these or other words: “The grace of our Lord, Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. We respond: And also with you. God forgives us for all the things we do bad, so together we pray: I confess to Almighty God and to you my brothers and sisters that I have sinned through my own fault in my thoughts and in my words in what I have done and what I have failed to do, and I ask the Blessed Mary, ever virgin, and all the angels and saints and you, my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord, our God.
