    GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF STEEL RAJYA SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO.436 FOR ANSWER ON 15/03/2012 ACQUISITION OF ORE-MINES BY SAIL 436. SHRI PIYUSH GOYAL: Will the Minister of STEEL be pleased to state: (a) whether the green panel has not given clearance of SAIL's acquisition of three ore-mines in Jharkhand; (b) if so, the details thereof; and (c) the reaction of Government thereto? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STEEL (SHRI BENI PRASAD VERMA) (a)to(c): The Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has been granted 13 iron ore mining leases (Chiria-6 leases, Gua-4 leases and Kiriburu-Meghahatuburu mines-3 leases) in the State of Jharkhand. The renewal of mining leases is pending with State Government except one lease i.e., Budhaburu lease of Chiria for which in-principle approval has been granted. Environmental Clearance (EC) has been obtained for 3 leases of Kiriburu- Meghahatuburu mines and for 3 leases of Chiria mine. Environmental Clearance proposals for 1 lease of Chiria and 1 lease of Gua mine are awaiting approval of Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF). In respect of 3 leases of Gua, MoEF has asked State Government to take appropriate control measures. Similarly, Forest Clearance (FC) for 2 leases of Kiriburu and Meghahatuburu mines is valid. Attendance: As singed in the affendance registered. Proceedings: Presentation was given by the Registered Qualified Person (RQP)/Consultant on behalf of the g Project Proponents. The submitted Mining Plan, Pre-feasibiiity Report, Forms, Certificates, information and undertakings were evaluated. Followings are the iecommendations of DEAC for different proposals: 1. Stone Mine of Salpatra at Mouza - Salpatra, P.O. - Tilaki, p.S. - Bindapathar, Dist. - Jamtara, State Jharkhand, Plot No. project - - 48(P), Khata No. - 440, proponent - NlUs Maa Durga Stone Mines (Partners: Smt. Vidushi Hansda and Shri Vikastr,Kgmar Mahto) Proposed lease area - 4.6l Acre (1.87 ha). This is a proposed stone mine lease area. The project proponent has submitted undertakings to take-up CSR activities and environmental management activities with the details of each acti;ity and cosi break-up. Considering the above facts, DEAC recommended for granting EC for Stone Mine of Salpatra of M/s Maa Durga Stone Mines with the terms and conditionr a, given in Annexure-1.
