Yesterday’s Wine is a band that took nearly 5 years to put together, but as Frontman and Originator Chad K. Slagle said, “It was Worth the Effort!”. Chad K. Slagle is a Nationally and Internationally Recognized Singer- Songwriter who hails from the mountains of West Virginia. It was there he was taught the roots of American music, from bluegrass to jazz and country to blues. Chad began playing in bars and honky tonks while still in high school. At 19, he won a national songwriting competition and earned a spot on the Kerrville Folk Festival. Since then, he has traveled extensively all over the US, Canada, and Europe. His songs have been heard in several TV shows, as well as 2 major motion films. His understanding of roots music and its history even earned him an Executive Producer spot on the film, “The Songcatcher” starring Aidan Quinn and Janet McTeer in 2000. Chad moved to Nashville about that time where he worked as both a staff writer, studio musician, and all-around road musician. He has worked with national acts like BR549, Kenny Rogers, Pam Tillis, Willie Nelson, and Kris Kristofferson. After about 10 years of hard work and traveling, Chad decided to move to Oklahoma to slow down a bit . Since moving to Oklahoma, Chad has regained the love for music that the Nashville grind had nearly taken from him. He is writing again, and after a few years of searching for just the right players, has put together one of the most versatile and entertaining bands in the Oklahoma/Texas Music Scene. Kelly Ray Potts is a multi-instrumentalist who grew up in Norman, OK. Kelly has it all---a great baritone voice, great chops on the , lap steel, , and , and has been schooled in everything from blues, country, rock, and bluegrass. When Chad found Kelly, it was like finding a long lost brother. David Ingram is a drummer’s drummer---having played everything from country and swing, to heavy metal and rock! David has worked with several well-known Oklahoma bands including Straight Shooter, Freedom Road, and The Relics before meeting Chad. He has also played on stage with artists from Toby Keith to Jackyll. David had the drive and versatility Chad had been looking for, and David was quickly on board. The last piece of the puzzle came when a chance meeting introduced Chad to Katie Ballew-- a fantastic vocalist, bass player, and all-around musician. How Katie can play the Bass so well ...all the while captivating the audience is simply AMAZING to WATCH. Katie's heart is with , but was ready for a new venture. After sitting in with the guys for just a few songs, it was obvious to Chad and the guys that they had completed their quest. It was time to move forward. And since then, moving forward is all they have done.
