After discussions between the staff of the Department of Commerce and the Fisheries Programme of the South Pacific Commission, it was decided that a search for appropriate documents would take place in Guam and Honolulu in September 1992. Twenty-three offices and collections were examined for both published and unpublished material appropriate for the bibliography. Special effort was made to search the University of Guam Micronesian Area Research Center Pacific Collection, the University of Guam Marine Laboratory, the University of Hawaii Hamilton Library, and the personal collection of Dr Lu Eldredge, Executive Secretary, Pacific Science Association (Honolulu). Six bibliographic computer researches were carried out. The documents included in this bibliography are arranged by author and by subject. The information was entered into a Pro-Cite library database. It is strongly recommended that personnel of the Department of Commerce update this document periodically. The authors sincerely thank Dr Lu Eldredge for his kind assistance, and Mrs Caroline Nalo, SPC Publications Officer, for her editorial advice. The authors also acknowledge the support of Mr William FitzGerald and his staff of the Division of Economic Development and Planning the Department of Commerce. In addition, the assistance of Dr Hiro Kurashina, Micronesian Area Research Center, University of Guam, was much appreciated.
