Four FUSD Students Qualify for State Geography Bee

(Fremont, CA, March 3rd, 2016) – The Fremont Unified School District (FUSD) is proud to announce that four of its students have qualified for the National Geographic California State Bee to be held Friday, April 1st, at California State University – Fresno. Over 100 students from around the state will be participating for a chance to represent California at the National Geographic Bee Championship, May 22-25, in Washington, D.C. Competing for FUSD will be:

Timothy Brahan, 7th-grade, Horner Junior High School Nikhil Isukapalli, 8th-grade, Thornton Junior High School Dhiya Kannan, 5th-grade, Warm Springs Elementary School Arjun Nathan, 7th-grade, Hopkins Junior High School

Each year thousands of schools in the United States participate in the National Geographic Bee using materials prepared by the National Geographic Society. The contest is designed to encourage teachers to include geography in their classrooms, spark student interest in the subject, and increase public awareness about geography. Schools with students in grades four through eight are eligible for this entertaining and challenging test of geographic knowledge.
