COVER: Illustration by Antonio Javier Caparo. Dear Readers, I am pleased to present our Fall 2018 list. This season, National Geographic Kids Books takes the power of science, exploration, and storytelling to new heights with the launch of our adventurous fiction imprint, Under the Stars. Our new fiction titles illuminate the research, skills, and knowledge of National Geographic’s best scientists, photographers, and journalists. We’re creating imaginative stories, steeped in fact and real-world investigation and layered with our best-in-class photography and illustration, for a PAGE multilayered, rich reading experience. 3 Our flagship fiction title, Explorer Academy: The Nebula Secret, tells the story of a young boy named Cruz who discovers that his mysterious past hides important secrets, and the future of our world may hang in the balance. More than a stand-alone publication, Explorer Academy launches a series that is part of a transmedia experience with storytelling across platforms, from print to digital to screens of all sizes. While we are thrilled to launch a fiction imprint, nonfiction will always be at the heart of PAGE our list. This fall, astronaut and author Buzz Aldrin takes us To the Moon and Back with 4 an elaborate pop-up gift book that retells the story of his famed moon landing, in time for the 50th anniversary of this historic event. We return from space to alight back on Earth with a gorgeous bird treasury by Jane Yolen and her children. Fly With Me is a celebration of the wonderful world of birds through pictures, poetry, and stories. We celebrate another milestone on our list with the 10-year-young anniversary of our flagship Weird But True franchise. This season, we publish Weird But True! 10 and PAGE will also reissue expanded editions of books 1-9 that each include 50 extra facts (a total 13 of 350 facts in every book!). We’ve updated and added shiny foil to their covers for a collectible experience. As kids uncover fantastic information in Ultimate Secrets Revealed, gaze in awe at the incredible animals in Ultimate Predatorpedia, or introduce their younger siblings to our beloved Weird But True books for a whole new generation of readers, ultimately kids (and their parents!) know we are telling stories that matter. We hope that our books, both PAGE fiction and nonfiction, encourage the explorer in all of us, ignite curiosity, and inspire kids 5 to become caretakers of our precious planet. Happy Reading! • Avengers Vol 1 Chapter 7: Space Pirates Within Seconds, the Entire
Earth-717: Avengers Vol 1 Chapter 7: Space Pirates Within seconds, the entire Senatorium was in chaos. The Dark Revenant opened fire on the Nova cruisers surrounding the space station, completely taking them by surprise. The two Pariahs also fired their main laser cannons, and together managed to effortlessly slice apart a Nova warship. The smaller Skrull vessels moved in on the defensive fleet, and the Skrull starfighters began swarming around any targets within range. Adora immediately gathered the Senate members and had them surrounded by Nova guards. The crowds began screaming and panicking, fleeing in all directions. Adora looked at the heroes as the Supreme Intelligence's hologram faded. “I'm getting the Senate out of here! If you want to help . then help.” Before any of the heroes could respond, the Dark Revenant launched multiple interceptor craft. These were cylindrical shuttles that struck the hull of the Senatorium and started drilling through them. While a handful were shot down by the Senatorium's turrets, a few of them still managed to latch on to the exterior of the station. Once holes were pierced by their drills, Skrull and Mekkan troops began flooding inside. Steve turned back to Adora. “We'll help your people fight them off however we can. Get the Senate to safety!” Adora hurriedly nodded before rushing off after the Senate and their guards. Steve held up his shield. Tasha equipped her repulsors and locked her helmet in place. Carol charged both of her hands with energy and started to hover. Thor held his hammer at the ready.
