A Portrait of PASTOR RANDY BEZET MARCH 17 + 18, 2018

Matthew 27:22 (NIV) “What shall I do, then, with who is called ?” Pilate asked.

When it comes to Jesus, you can’t be neutral.

Deuteronomy 30:19 (NLT) Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make. Oh, that you would choose life...

Will you do what’s popular?

Reject Him.

Matthew 27:22 (NIV) [The crowd] all answered, “Crucify him!”

1 Peter 2:7-9 (NLT) 7 Yes, you who trust him recognize the honor God has given him. But for those who reject him, “The stone that the builders rejected has now become the cornerstone.” 8 And, “He is the stone that makes people stumble, the rock that makes them fall.” They stumble because they do not obey God’s word... 9 But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.

John 17:14-19 (NLT) 14 “And the world hates them because they do not belong to the world, just as I do not belong to the world. 15 I’m not asking you to take them out of the world, but to keep them safe from the evil one. 16 They do not belong to this world any more than I do. 17 Make them holy by your truth; teach them your word, which is truth. {18} Just as you sent me into the world, I am sending them into the world. 19 And I give myself as a holy sacrifice for them so they can be made holy by your truth.”

Replace Him.

Matthew 27:21 (NIV) “Which of the two do you want…?” asked [Pilate]. “,” they answered.

Malachi 1:7-8,10 (MSG) 7 “When you say, ‘The altar of GOD is not important anymore; worship of GOD is no longer a priority,’ that’s defiling. 8 And when you offer worthless animals for sacrifices in worship, animals that you’re trying to get rid of—blind and sick and crippled animals—isn’t that defiling? Try a trick like that with your banker or your senator—how far do you think it will get you?” GOD-of-the--Armies asks you... 10 “Why doesn’t one of you just shut the Temple doors and lock them? Then none of you can get in and play at religion with this silly, empty-headed worship. I am not pleased. The GOD-of-the-Angel-Armies is not pleased. And I don’t want any more of this so-called worship.

Will you wash your hands?

Matthew 27:24-26 (NIV) 24 When Pilate saw that he was getting nowhere, but that instead an uproar was starting, he took water and washed his hands in front of the crowd. “I am innocent of this man’s blood,” he said. “It is your responsibility!” 25 All the people answered, “Let his blood be on us and on our children!” 26 Then he released Barabbas to them. But he had Jesus flogged, and handed him over to be crucified.

Jeremiah 17:5 (NLT)This is what the LORD says: “Cursed are those who put their trust in mere humans, who rely on human strength and turn their hearts away from the LORD.”

Ephesians 4:11-14 (NLT) 11 Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. 12 Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ. 13 This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ. 14 Then we will no longer be immature like children. We won’t be tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching. We will not be influenced when people try to trick us with lies so clever they sound like the truth.

Will you do what’s right?

Receive Him.

John 1:12 (KJV) As many as received him, to them gave he power to become the [children] of God…

Release Him.

Matthew 27:21 (NLT) So [Pilate] asked again, “Which of these two do you want me to release to you?” The crowd shouted back, “Barabbas!”

Matthew 13:57-58 (NLT) 57 And they were deeply offended and refused to believe in him. Then Jesus told them, “A prophet is honored everywhere except in his own hometown and among his own family.” 58 And so he did only a few miracles there…

Mark 5:15-17 (NLT) 15 A crowd soon gathered around Jesus, and they saw the man who had been possessed by the legion of . He was sitting there fully clothed and perfectly sane, and they were all afraid. 16 Then those who had seen what happened told the others about the -possessed man and the pigs. 17 And the crowd began pleading with Jesus to go away and leave them alone.
