Doran that Standing Orders would be Standing Orders suspended to allow members discuss the planned closure of the Bord na Móna plant in Littleton. Members agreed to the suspension of Standing Orders. Bord na Móna Members expressed their shock at the announcement by Bord na Móna to close the plant at Plant Littleton Littleton in April 2018. The closure would result in a loss of 69 permanent jobs and up to 56 jobs threatened in peat harvesting. The Cathaoirleach referred to the recent launch of the marketing plan for Tipperary by Minister Mitchell O’Connor and to a meeting held with the Minister following the launch regarding employment in Tipperary.
