STYLISH ACCOMMODATION with a FAMILY ATMOSPHERE Dear Readers
CENTRAL BOHEMIA TOURIST BOARD STYLISH ACCOMMODATION WITH A FAMILY ATMOSPHERE Dear readers, The tourist season is here, so come and get to know Central Bohemia. Our châteaux and castles have tempting new guided routes, our museums boast unusual exhibits and our region, enveloping the capital, has plenty of novel sports options for you to try. You’ll find tips on our region, and how to enjoyably spend your time, in our brochures as well as our Facebook and web pages. For all those who like to explore at length, for whom a same-day return is not ‘just the ticket’ we bring a selection of places to stay. Don’t be surprised these aren’t hotels for large groups; in this brochure we’ve kept things family-focused, so to speak. It’s not just that some places have ‘family’ in their names, we are talking about the cosier guesthouses, homesteads, farms and hotels that have flourished as family businesses, under the care of couples or groups of friends who have committed to making their guests feel at home. Our brochure introduces you to guesthouses with splendid views, farms dedicated to ecology and sustainability – from energy use to own meat production, places to ‘drift away’ on horseback, or to sample rural life. You may often find yourself casting your mind back to the summer days you spent at grandma’s cottage, such is the homely mood these hospitality entrepreneurs have taken pains to achieve. We wish you a relaxing stay in Central Bohemia, and your many happy return visits at any time of year. -
WSN in Prague Metro
WSN in Prague metro Martin Vaníček - CTU WSN installation in Prague - past • Test site Near Dejvická metro station (~70m) • The reason for this site was to test the WSN network in the environment of Prague metro, especially as on line A is installed a signalling system running on the Wi-Fi band as Zig-bee • 8 wireless nodes + Stargate gateway installed • 5 nodes + Stargate in one ring • 3 nodes along tunnel ~ 17m distance • Linksys GPRS router for internet access next to Stargate • Encountered problems • GPRS connection dropping, most probably due to the distance from the station • Stargate stopped working due to faulty power supply, the WSN removed during January visit WSN in Prague Metro Prague 4 - 5 November 2008 Martin Vaníček WSN installation in Prague - present • Situation at line C between Nádraží Holešovice and Vltavská stations: • WSN is installed in similar set up as in London • The gateway used is Balloon computer & MIB600 board • Internet – using USB modem connected to Balloon • The signal is strong enough as we are closer to the station • The systém is working fine since August this year • Peter Bennet will give you more details in his presentation WSN in Prague Metro Prague 4 - 5 November 2008 Martin Vaníček WSN installation in Prague – future • Proposal: • WSN will be installed in 2 more locations in Prague metro – near station Můstek on line A and on Nuselský bridge on line C • WSN will be based on Crossbow‘s implementation (Stargate Netbridge gateway with X-mesh protocol) the collection of data from network will be based on Cambridge implementation as is on Balloon • Internet connection will be done using Linksys router • Netbridge gateway will be connected with MIB600 board via about 100m long Ethernet cable that is proved to work in metro on line C, we will try to implement powering of MIB 600 by PoE • Regarding sensors we want to install 4 inclinometers and 2 crackmeters on each site of course together with measurements of temperature, pressure and humidity. -
Must See in Prague
Must see in Prague Prague Castle Prague Castle is the largest castle complex in the world, according to the Guinness Book of World Records. Originally dating to the 9th century, this landmark, which surrounds St. Vitus Cathedral, bears the mark of each architectural and historical era that it has lived through. To this day, it serves as the seat of the Czech state. Prague Old Town and Jewish Quarter Despite being only a fraction of its former self, Prague’s Jewish Quarter comprises the best current complex of Jewish historical monuments in all of Europe. The smallest of Prague’s districts was walled off as a ghetto in 1096, following a pogrom against its inhabitants, who were mainly Jewish immigrants. Old Town Hall and the Astronomical Clock Arguably Prague’s most identifiable icon, the Astronomical Clock built into the façade of the Old Town Hall on Old Town Square continues to draw crowds waiting to see the hourly chiming of this amazing mechanical structure that dates to 1410. Powder Tower The Powder Tower is a one of the original medieval gates to the Old Town built by Matej Rejsek in the Gothic style in 1475. In the 18th century, it served as a gunpowder depot, giving it its current name. In the late 19th century, it was rebuilt by J. Mocker, and it remains one of Prague’s most important medieval monuments. Charles Bridge Prague’s oldest bridge, and one of its most iconic structures, is Charles Bridge, which connects Old Town with Malá Strana. Dating to 1357, it was originally called the Stone Bridge, or Prague Bridge, before being named Charles Bridge in 1870, after its founder King Charles IV. -

Nedávno jsem na našem digitálním domácím teploměru naměřil v ranních hodinách venku 4 °C, což se na cestě na kole na radnici naší městské části projevilo potřebou užití mé oblíbené černé „šusťákové bundy“. Pomohlo to! :-) Jak jste si jistě všimli, proběhly ve druhém zářijovém týdnu tradiční Dny Prahy 11, které se konaly v parku u Cho- dovské tvrze. V rámci akce proběhlo také představení techniky složek Integrovaného záchranného systému. O kulturní nabídku se postaralo hudební vystoupení Pavla Dobeše a skupin Asonance, Hudba Praha band, Žlutý pes, Ambroš Ladies Orchestra a Terne. I počasí bylo tento rok na naší straně. Letošní novinkou byl i informační stan naší městské části, kde vám byli k dispozici odborníci našeho úřadu a odpovídali na vaše dotazy ohledně rozvoje Jižního Města, údržby zeleně, veřejných ploch a prostranství, bezpeč- nosti, dopravy apod. Bylo také možné si zde online zahlasovat v rámci aktuálně probíhajícího participativního rozpočtu Za lepší Prahu 11. -

Kinsky Trio Prague
KINSKY TRIO PRAGUE Veronika Böhmová - Piano Lucie Sedláková H ůlová - Violin Martin Sedlák - Cello Founded in 1998, the KINSKY TRIO PRAGUE is one of the outstanding Czech chamber ensembles. Since 2004 the Trio has had the honour of bearing the name ‘KINSKY’ by kind permission of the aristocratic Czech family from Kostelec nad Orlicí. The Trio studied at the Academy of Music in Prague under Václav Bernášek, cellist of the Kocian Quartet and has taken part in several master classes (e.g. with the Guarneri Trio and the Florestan Trio). The Kinsky’s international career has taken them all over Europe (Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Belgium, England, France), the U.S., Canada, Mexico and also the Seychelles. In 2007 - 2009 the Kinsky Trio Prague organized its own series of chamber concerts at the Stone Bell House, an historic inn on the Old Town Square in their home city of Prague. They regularly record for Czech Radio, and their concerts have also been broadcast in Mexico and the U.S. Since 2009 the Kinsky Trio Prague regularly record CDs for the French label Praga Digitals (distributed by Harmonia Mundi). Their recording of complete piano trios by Bohuslav Martin ů has been warmly recommended by international music critics (Diapason, Gramophone, Classica, Harmonie, etc.). The other CDs include compositions by Czech composers Foerster, Novák, Janá ček and Fibich, and less known Russian trios by Borodin, Rimsky Korsakov and Arensky. …The Kinsky Trio catch the spirit of both early sets very neatly in performances of great charm and dexterity. ... Gramophone 10/2009 …Kinsky Trio Prague resurrects these admirable pages with a communicative verve at each moment.
